About Out of the Woods Rescue
Out of the Woods Rescue is a Melbourne-based, volunteer-run animal rescue dedicated to saving, rehabilitating and responsibly rehoming companion animals. We're a foster-based network, meaning all animals in our care live in loving homes while they wait for adoption.
We are an ACNC-registered, not-for-profit charity committed to working collaboratively with local councils, businesses, community groups and individuals who share our passion for animal welfare.
Our approach centres on responsible pet ownership, prioritised adoptions, and individualised care—with the long-term goal of making the need for rescue organisations redundant. Our foster carers, vets and volunteers work closely to ensure every animal receives proper vet work, behavioural support and a safe environment in which to heal and thrive.
When an animal enters our care—particularly those at risk of euthanasia—our volunteer network steps up to ensure their darkest days are truly behind them.
We believe that every animal deserves a safe home. Sadly, many companion animals in Melbourne still don’t have one. Out of the Woods exists to change that.
