Lucy

Lucy is a young girl with a gentle, sensitive soul and a wonderfully cheeky personality. While she is naturally shy with humans, she has so much personality to offer once she feels safe and comfortable.

Lucy absolutely adores other cats and must be adopted into a home with a friendly resident cat, as feline companionship is essential to her confidence and happiness. She is a wonderful little housemate and a fantastic companion for another cat. She loves playing, exploring, cuddling up with her feline friends and even affectionately grooming them. Her cheeky side really shines around confident, playful and active cats.

Despite her shy nature, Lucy has made beautiful progress in foster care. She is now very comfortable and happy moving around the home and co-existing with her humans. On her terms, she accepts gentle pats from the human she trusts the most and absolutely loves them, often rolling around with excitement! She also enjoys hopping onto the bed to nap near her humans – something that took time and trust but is now a regular and very special habit.

Lucy has a wonderfully playful side, too. She makes the cutest trills and chirps when she's excited, especially when playing with her cat friends, and she will happily sneak a nibble of human food when your back is turned! She especially loves creamy treats (nightly treat time is her favourite ritual!) and can't resist a Cat Dancer wand toy, which is a lovely way to interact with her without putting any pressure on her.

Lucy is currently living alongside a Golden Retriever in foster care. While she chooses not to actively interact or spend time with him, she is comfortable sharing the home. Because of this, Lucy may be suited to a calm, older, cat-savvy dog who is respectful of her boundaries and happy to coexist peacefully. If her future home has a dog, she will need her own safe spaces to retreat to whenever she wants some quiet time.

Lucy will need a very patient and understanding family who is prepared to give her plenty of time to settle and build trust. It took several months for her to become comfortable enough to settle in and show her wonderful personality in foster care, and her new family should expect that she may need to start this process again when she moves into a new home. She does not need to be rushed or pressured beyond what she is comfortable with.

Her foster carers have spent many months learning what helps Lucy feel safe and confident, so her adopters will need to be willing to listen to and follow their guidance and suggestions during her transition. With patience, consistency and the freedom to progress at her own pace, Lucy can blossom into a wonderfully rewarding companion.
