About Taco
Meet Taco! 🌮
Taco is a big, friendly boy with a hilarious personality and the tiniest baby meow that will melt your heart. He’s super expressive and will let you know exactly what he wants - food, pats, water, or attention - and he’s not shy about it!
Curious, confident, and full of energy, Taco loves toys (especially small mice or birds), drinking from the water fountain, and keeping a close eye on whatever you’re up to - yes, even in the shower! When he’s ready to chill, he’s happiest cuddled up with you, watching TV and soaking up all the love.
Food-motivated and playful, Taco adores his meals and little treats (cheese is a favourite!) and isn’t above sneaking a bite if you’re not looking. Friendly with everyone, curious about everything, and always up for company, Taco is a confident, affectionate, and endlessly entertaining companion ready to steal your heart.
Medical notes
Taco had dental disease prior to his arrival at Out of the Woods Rescue. As this condition was negatively impacting Taco's welfare, a dental scale and polish as well as any necessary extractions were performed under general anesthesia. Taco will benefit from ongoing dental home care, such as a dental care diet and regular brushing of teeth.
Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) Positive
Taco has tested positive to Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), which might sound scary, but it truly isn't. It just means Taco has a slightly weaker immune system, so if they get a sniffle, it's better to take them straight to the vet rather than adopting a 'wait and see' approach. Taco can live happily with other cats that do not have FIV, therefore there is very minimal risk to any of the other cats in the household.
There is a lot of misinformation about FIV, so please ask us any questions you have, talk to your preferred/trusted vet and do your own research from reliable sources.
Adoption details
All animals adopted through Out of the Woods Rescue are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea/worm treated and health-checked. We aim to match each animal with a home that suits their needs and personality.
Here’s how our adoption process works:
Submit an application – This helps us get to know you, your household and what you're looking for in a pet.
Phone chat – If your application looks like a potential fit, one of our team members will contact you for a casual phone conversation to answer questions and discuss the animal in more detail.
Meet and greet – You’ll meet the animal in their foster home or another agreed location. If everyone agrees it’s a good match, we can proceed to adoption.
Adoption paperwork and payment – Our adoption fees cover desexing, microchipping, vaccination and parasite treatment.
Once adopted, the animal becomes part of your family. We're still here for post-adoption support if you ever need any help.
We’re committed to ethical adoptions and reserve the right to decline applications if we feel the match isn’t in the best interest of the animal.
