The impact of your kindness ~ 2019
Looking back at 2019 there are so many reasons to celebrate and be grateful. With your support, and together with the wider PetRescue community, we had the opportunity to help save the lives of even more pets.
Setting the scene for rescue pets in 2019, was National Pet Adoption Day in February where over 650 pets were adopted. That’s a huge amount of lives saved!
Another highlight was seeing the number of rescue organisations that joined the PetRescue family grow to 1000! One thousand reasons to celebrate the care and hard work provided by shelters, volunteers, vets and pounds across Australia, using the PetRescue platform to find homes and resulting in over 69,000 rescue pets being rehomed, wow!
This is the impact of your support in 2019
Wins we achieved together for #TeamRescue
Hildy the Greyhound graduates from probation to full-time employee!
The year kicked off to a great start for the Workplace Foster Care Program which saw Hildy the greyhound going from foster to full-time pet.
Landing her first job at FBi Radio in Sydney, it didn’t take long for gorgeous Hildy the greyhound to steal the hearts of all the employees, including the MD of FBi Radio, Nikki, who fell head over heels in love and went on to adopt this gorgeous greyhound 💚. In fact, Nikki even moved to a new apartment just so that she could adopt Hildy!
Will 2020 see another successful round of CFOs (Chief Furry Officers) in workplaces around the country? Stay tuned to find out more! Or click here if you would like your office to be part of the Workplace Foster Care Program.

With not much noise being made for William the deaf and FIV+ cat, The Adoptables Program swung into action and again set the scene for the year for those special pets needing a little more help than normal to find their perfect home.
Wobbly, deaf and FIV+ cat, Will, formerly Wobbles from Dreamer’s Hen Rescue hit the jackpot when he was adopted by an all-round awesome human, Jessica through PetRescue’s Adoptables program. Today William is living the best life, complete with snuggles and 24x7 attention from his new family! Yes, we’d all like to be Will please! Read all about this dashing dude’s story here!
Close to 30 special pets like Wobbles found new homes in 2019 as part of the Adoptables program.
33 pets flew into their humans’ hearts through the Jetpets Free Flights Program!
Who says getting on a plane to find the love of your life is only reserved for sappy Christmas movie plots? Last year, PetRescue team member Susan, who facilitates the Free Flights program, helped coordinate flights for 33 of the sweetest rescue pets, bringing them one step closer to their new homes. And one such passenger to soar the Aussie skies was Daisy from Greyhound Rehoming Association, who flew to NSW to find her happily ever after!
Love and support for pets built by the PetRescue community spreads far and wide
When Wally’s Dog Rescue first reached out to us seeking support to help drought-stricken farmers in their community, we immediately knew who we could call on to come to the rescue.
Thanks to Mars Petcare and the very special relationship built with PetRescue over the years, they were more than happy to jump on board and donate over $100,000 in pet food for the pets in this remote community. Being the animal welfare champions they are, Mars will be continuing donations to the drought-hit communities, ensuring that the pets in need are happy and cared for!
