Welcome to Mornington Peninsula Dog Rescue Inc. We are a registered not-for-profit charity and are proudly endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office with DGR status.
Our rescue is run entirely by a passionate team of volunteers who generously give their time while balancing full-time jobs, families, and other commitments. If you don’t receive an immediate response to your enquiry, we kindly ask for your patience. We will get back to you as soon as we’re able.
Every year, thousands of healthy, rehomeable dogs enter Australian pounds through no fault of their own. Our mission is to give these deserving dogs a second chance by rescuing, rehabilitating, and matching them with loving forever families.
💙 What We Do
Mornington Peninsula Dog Rescue is a foster-based rescue dedicated to saving at-risk dogs from Victorian pounds and finding them safe, loving homes.
Because we don’t operate a shelter, every dog lives in a foster home where they receive love, care, and the opportunity to decompress while we learn about their personality, behaviour, and needs. This allows us to make thoughtful adoption matches that set both the dog and their new family up for success.
🏡 Adoption Information
Our priority is finding the right home for every dog—not simply the first application we receive.
Potential adopters are asked to complete an adoption application, after which our volunteer team carefully reviews each application. Suitable applicants will be contacted to discuss the dog further and arrange a meet and greet where appropriate.
Many of our dogs are first placed in Foster to Adopt homes, allowing both the dog and family time to ensure they’re the perfect match before finalising the adoption.

* Transport from pounds to foster homes

Our foster carers are the heart of our rescue. Without them, we simply couldn’t save lives.
By opening your home temporarily, you provide a dog with safety, love, and stability while we search for their forever family. We supply ongoing support and cover approved veterinary expenses.
