About Flambeau
Meet Flambeau (aka Willow) who is a 2 year old Wolfhound mix🩷
If you're looking for a dog with personality plus, Flambeau might just be your perfect match. Equal parts athlete, comedian and cuddle bug, she's a gorgeous girl who lives life at full speed before curling up for the world's most luxurious nap.
Flambeau is incredibly energetic and athletic. She can leap like a show dog and absolutely loves to zoom around at greyhound speed before settling down for a cuddle and a nap beside her people. She'd thrive with an active owner or family who enjoy walks, adventures or even jogging, although she'd benefit from some continued lead and obedience training to help channel all that enthusiasm. She currently walks in a Halti, but she's a strong girl and can still pull when she's excited, so she'll need someone confident and physically capable of handling her on walks.
She's already making great progress with her manners. She can sit on command and is well on her way to offering a paw before dinner is served. She's eager to please and enjoys learning, so with consistency she'll continue to blossom. She's also very well toilet trained and has excellent house manners in that regard.
One thing you'll never question is how much she loves her people. Flambeau is incredibly affectionate, thrives on attention and would love to be someone's best friend and constant companion. Her ideal home would be one where she's included in everyday life and gets plenty of cuddles. She has some wonderfully quirky habits too. She'll happily balance along the back of the couch like a cat, and if there's a pile of pillows or blankets anywhere in the house, she'll somehow manage to perch on top of all of them like the princess and the pea.
In foster care, Flambeau has spent time with a two year old child and has shown herself to be patient, gentle and never reactive or aggressive. However, she's such a big, enthusiastic girl that she's accidentally bowled the little one over more than once simply through excitement. For that reason, we think she'd be best suited to a home with older children, or ideally an adults-only home where she can be the centre of someone's world.
Flambeau could also happily live with another dog, provided they're confident and happy to match (or tolerate!) her enthusiastic play style and high energy levels. She'd likely do best with a playful canine companion rather than a quieter dog who prefers their own space.
Like many young dogs, she still likes to investigate the world with her mouth. She's generally respectful of her own toys, but if you leave something interesting lying around that isn't hers, there's a fair chance she'll decide it's worth taste-testing!
Flambeau isn't looking for just a home, she's looking for her person. If you're after an affectionate, hilarious, larger-than-life companion and are happy to continue her training, she'll reward you with endless love, laughs and loyalty.
