Meet Flambeau, affectionately known as Willow, a gorgeous 2-year-old Wolfhound mix with personality plus! 🩷

Equal parts athlete, comedian and cuddle bug, Willow lives life at full speed before curling up for the world’s most luxurious nap.

Willow is incredibly energetic and athletic. She can leap like a show dog and loves zooming around at greyhound speed before settling beside her people for cuddles and a well-earned snooze. She would thrive with an active owner or family who enjoys walks, adventures or even jogging.

She currently walks using a Halti but can still pull when she becomes excited, so she needs someone confident and physically capable of handling her while continuing her lead and obedience training.

Willow is already making wonderful progress with her manners. She can sit on command and is well on her way to offering a paw before dinner is served. She is eager to please, enjoys learning and will continue to blossom with consistency and guidance. She is also very well toilet trained.

One thing you’ll never question is how much Willow loves her people. She is incredibly affectionate, thrives on attention and would love to be someone’s best friend and constant companion. Her ideal home will include her in everyday life and provide her with plenty of love, cuddles and enrichment.

She has some wonderfully quirky habits too! Willow will happily balance along the back of the couch like a cat, and if there’s a pile of pillows or blankets nearby, she’ll somehow perch on top of every single one like the princess and the pea. 👑

Willow also loves travelling in the car and is a wonderful passenger, making her a fantastic companion for adventures. 🚗🐾

In foster care, Willow has spent time with a 2-year-old child and has been patient, gentle and non-reactive. However, she is a large and enthusiastic girl who can accidentally knock little ones over when she becomes excited. For this reason, she would be best suited to a home with older children or an adults-only household.

Willow could happily live with another dog, provided they are confident and comfortable with her enthusiastic, high-energy play style. A playful canine companion may also help her feel more secure when her people need to leave the house.

Willow has experienced some separation-related destructive behaviour, but this is becoming less and less frequent as she settles into foster care and learns that her carers will always come back. She needs a patient and understanding home willing to give her time, continue building her confidence and gradually increase the periods she spends alone.

She may cope well when left with a suitable doggy friend and would also be a fantastic candidate for doggy daycare, as she loves the company of other dogs and would benefit from the exercise and social interaction.

Like many young dogs, Willow still investigates the world with her mouth. She is generally respectful of her own toys, but if something interesting is left lying around, there is a fair chance she may decide it needs a little taste test!

Willow does have a prey drive and is therefore not suitable for a home with cats or other small animals.
