About Drakkus
ππ FOSTER / FOSTER TO ADOPT HOME NEEDED β DRAKKUS ππ
πΎ Also known as Ralph
π Victoria | 7-month-old male Jack Russell
Drakkus is looking for a new home due to his familyβs personal reasons. This intelligent, energetic puppy has a big personality and needs a patient, committed carer to help him continue learning. β€οΈ
He loves playing, sniffing, chewing and being around people. He is very food motivated and responsive to training, but he needs help managing his excitement and learning how to settle.
β
Fully vaccinated, microchipped and desexed
β
Toilet trained and crate trained
β
Goes into his crate when asked
β
Knows βlookβ and βdropβ to lie down
β
Learning sit, fetch and dropping his toys
π Drakkus typically heads to bed around 8pm and wakes between 5.30β6am.
πΎ He enjoys Kongs, chasing a lure toy and is beginning to enjoy fetch. Rope toys arenβt suitable for him, as he pulls them apart and tries to swallow the strings.
π Drakkus is generally friendly and keen to meet other dogs, but his enthusiasm can be overwhelming. He can jump up and get right into their faces, and he is still learning to walk past dogs calmly. He doesnβt bark much at them, but becomes very excited and pulls strongly.
π He has a strong prey drive, chases birds and small animals, and is untested with cats.
Drakkus needs ongoing training and support in a few important areas:
πΎ He jumps, mouths and nips during play, including nipping at ankles.
πΎ Visitors can overwhelm him, so he needs carefully managed introductions and space to settle.
πΎ Putting on his harness and attaching his lead can be difficult, as he becomes mouthy and wriggly.
πΎ Walks can overstimulate him, particularly when he sees birds, people or other dogs.
He also shows resource guarding with items he picks up around the house, such as plastic bags. He may run away with them and become nippy if approached directly to take them away. His current family uses an item or treat to swap, and his next carer will need to continue working on this with appropriate support.
π‘ Drakkus would be best suited to a home without young children, with someone prepared to provide daily exercise, mental stimulation, consistent routines and ongoing reward-based training. Any resident dogs would need careful introductions and consideration of his excitable play style.
He has already learnt so muchβnow he needs someone who can keep helping him build those skills. β€οΈ
