About Justice
Meet Taro (briefly named Justice) an American Staffy mix who is around two years old.
After an extremely tough start to life, Taro is a true survivor. He came into rescue care very underweight, still sweet-natured despite being understandably over-alert, unsure, and lacking much of the stability every dog deserves.
Now he has blossomed into even more of the sweetest, most loving boy. He's incredibly clever, and with patience, consistency and kindness, he has come such a long way. Having arrived at just 17kg, Taro is now a healthy 30.4kg, is toilet trained, and eager to please.
Taro thrives on human company, gentle pats and affection.
He absolutely adores being around his people and is happiest when included in everyday life.
He's just beginning to discover the joy of toys, especially his Kong, and he loves walks, running, exploring outdoors and taking in all the wonderful smells around him.
Because of his background, he can sometimes become a little excited after meals or walks and benefits from a calm, gentle environment to help him settle.
He responds beautifully to praise, reassurance and affection rather than strict correction. He is still learning not to jump up when excited, but he has made fantastic progress.
Taro is still learning the social skills that many dogs develop early in life. He is often curious and interested in other dogs; however, careful, gradual introductions and monitored interactions will help set him up for success. His ideal home will understand the importance of continuing his training and socialisation journey with patience and consistency.
For this reason, Taro may be best suited as the only dog in the home, or with other dogs who are placid and or with adopters who are experienced and committed to continuing his social development.
He is incredible with people, including his interactions with children. He is wonderful with the vet, during baths, and when being handled.
Crate training has been a challenge, likely due to experiences from his past and he travels best with appropriate car restraint.
More than anything, Taro wants to be someone's best friend.
After everything he has been through, he hasn't lost his gentle heart or his trust in people.
He forms strong bonds, loves being close to his humans, and simply wants to love and be loved.
Watching him discover safety, affection and life's simple joys has been incredibly rewarding and he deserves a forever home where he can continue to flourish.
Taro is ready for his forever home, a place where he will be cherished as much as he cherishes others.
Could you be his perfect match? 🐾❤️
