Community Care Program
Since 2004, PetRescue has provided support and care to the rescue community comprising of 2,100+^ member organisations, including rescue groups, vets, shelters and local councils. The life-saving work for pets in need doesn’t happen without these people who care for them. The community care program helps to care for those people and the amazing work they do!
The goals of this program are to free up space for member rescue organisations and reduce intake. By doing this, we aim to alleviate the pressure they face and ensure every pet has the chance to be safe, respected, and loved.
With the time, capacity, well-being and financial pressure that the rescue community faces, PetRescue's Community Care programs and initiatives aim to address these challenges via direct donations ($630,110 to date*), free food and product donations ($13,844,228 to date*), free flights plus a host of essential resources and support.
Just some of the benefits PetRescue enables for the member community:
-
Support in finding homes: Both temporary foster carers and permanent adopters via the free pet adoption and pet listing management platform.
-
Time-saving tech tools: Offering life-saving technology tools that streamline operations and save time, such as AI profile writing and bulk messaging capabilities.
-
Operational support: Resources to support the day-to-day operations of rescue organisations, including free pet transport, free food and product donations, and proactive programs like Home2Home to prevent pets from needing to enter the system completely.
-
Reputation and trust: Ensuring that only reputable organisations can become members with thorough screening processes, setting a standard that ensures continuity of trust by the public.
-
Sector sustainability: Promoting sustainability for the rescue sector by continually looking for ways to innovate, collaborate and do more with less.
Australia’s rescue landscape is large, unique and complex. But in all the connecting systems, people are at the centre. This is why community care is the heart of our mission. By listening, understanding, working with and supporting the rescue community in the ways they need it the most, we can collectively create happiness and save lives.
