About Bundy- Dingo X
Hi my name is Bundy. I’m a thoughtful sweet boy, shy at first but once you win me over I'll be your friend for life. I'm still young, and have a playful pups energy, I'm super social with other dogs and love to run and romp around with my buddies. I love squeaky toys, treats and balls. Are you my fur-ever family?
Looking for a shy but sweet companion with abounding energy, intelligence and a loyal nature?
Look no further than pawsome pup Bundy! Bundy and his siblings are a cheeky litter of wild-born dingo orphan pups found in the bush near Darwin. They have been hand-raised with lots of human contact and socialising, and since they can't be returned to the wild they are on the hunt for fur-ever families of their own.
Bundy is shy with new people and will need a lot of patience when he is first settling in to his new home. He needs a family with lots of patience and time to continue his socialising and help him get used to suburban life. He is after a quiet household with no kids or older kids only, who have experience with shy rescue dogs, street dogs or dingoes.
Bundy loves to run and play with other dogs and would love a home with a doggy or dingo friend of a similar size or bigger to help build his confidence (no dogs under 10kg).
Bundy walks well on lead and is good in the car for short trips (in a crate), but will need more practice in the car with his new family. He is very shy around new people, busy environments and loud sounds, so enjoys walks in quieter areas like the beach or the bush as opposed to busy parks or city streets. He loves tug toys, squeaky toys and treat balls and is very food motivated. Food is a great way to earn his trust and a good training tool.
Bundy is very intelligent, food motivated and eager to learn. Being a dingo however he is not suitable to let off leash except in a securely fenced area at home and he is unlikely to ever learn reliable recall (come when called) off the leash.
Bundy is not suitable to live with cats, pocket pets, birds or live stock. He needs a large yard and cannot live in an apartment.
Fencing requirements:
You will need ONE of the follow BEFORE an adoption trial with a dingo mix can begin.
- A 1.8m Colorbond or paling fence with nothing leaning against or near the fence line.
- A dog enclosure at least 1.8m high with either a full roof or 45 degree inward facing over-hang of 60cm to prevent climbing. Must be at least 25m square (for instance 5m x 5m or 8m x 3m).
You do not need a dog enclosure if you have secure 1.8m fencing.
For more advice on fencing see our website: www.sydneydingorescue.com.au.
Animal rescue is considered essential. SFDR can still come to you for meet and greets, yard checks and animal adoptions. We have volunteers in Canberra and New South Wales and can come to you even if you we are not in your local government area. Distance is not an issue when we are looking for the perfect homes for our dingoes. Please note we have COVID safety measures in place.
Adoption details
Please note at this time pending legal advice we are unable to offer fox kit adoption to private owners.
Dingo Adoption:
It takes a very special owner to provide a home for a dingo and adopting saves two lives, the one you adopt and the next dingo we can save now we have a free spot at our shelter.
We rehome a few types of dingo, what we typically call “low content” and “high content” dingoes. We have both pups and adults looking for homes and their profiles can be viewed here: https://www.petrescue.com.au/groups/10730/
Adoption fees range from $500 to $300 and cover desexing, vaccinations and microchipping.
A low content dingo typically has one parent who is a dog or a large amount of dog genetics. Low content dingoes are often called “dingo hybrids” or “dingo crosses”. Low content dingoes typically require a 1.8m fence OR a dog enclosure/run.
A high content dingo typically has two dingo parents or a large amount of dingo genetics. High content dingoes are often known as “pure dingoes”. High content dingoes have much stricter fencing requirements due to their climbing ability. You will need ONE OR MORE of the follow BEFORE an adoption trial for a high content dingo can begin.
- A 2.2m colour-bond or paling fence with nothing leaning against or near the fence line
- A 1.8m fence (of any sturdy material) with a 45 degree inward facing over-hang of 60cm to prevent climbing
- A dog enclosure at least 1.8m high with either a full roof or 45 degree inward facing over-hang of 60cm to prevent climbing. Must be at least 25m square (for instance 5m x 5m or 8m x 3m)
- Mesh, concrete or similar around the base of the fence may also be required
Some manufacturers of pre-made dog enclosures include:
https://www.vebopet.com.au/dog/dog-run-fence
https://www.spotonpetenclosures.com.au/shop/listings/pet-enclosures/
Another option is using construction fencing style panels from bunnings or weldedmesh sheets and posts.
A yard check is required for all adoptions and we also have a two week trial period to ensure every adoption is a good fit.
