Virtuosos Chloe and Bruce Are Perfectly In Tune 🎵
Meet Bruce! Bruce has worked as an Orchestra Librarian for the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra for over 20 years.
Around four years ago, Bruce moved into a dog-friendly rental and wasted no time. It wasn’t long before he came across little lady Chloe’s profile on PetRescue and quickly submitted an enquiry to Scruffer Lovers. Bruce says his first impression was that Chloe was ‘ultra cute!’ The adoption process was speedy: after submitting the enquiry on Wednesday night, by Friday, he received the call he’d been hoping for: Chloe was all his!

On Saturday, Bruce picked up little Chloe from her foster home, and she was the perfect passenger. Chloe was unsure of her new surroundings at first, but by the evening, she’d hopped up on his lap, and they were happily watching the Royal Wedding together! When he woke up the following day, he was happy to discover ‘a little warm, furry body on the bed’. She’s been there every night ever since.
"I might have rescued her, but she’s also rescued me. She’s the best thing that’s happened to me in a very long time! She’s a very sweet girl."
Cheeky Chloe is now very settled in - so much so, that if she’s had enough of a walk, she’ll sit down, and Bruce will have to carry her the rest of the way home! Chloe has gained so much confidence and loves the dog park where she has lots of furry pals she sees regularly.
"Chloe has been fantastic for my mental health - the last few years have been difficult for everybody. Over the years, I have suffered from depression, and she’s really helped with that. I think about getting home to see her when I'm at work. The world’s a much better place when we’re together!"
Once Chloe was more settled and at ease, Bruce decided to try taking her to work. It was a success! The musicians adored her, and she happily lapped up the attention.
"Chloe is great therapy for those stressful days at work. She also loves listening to the orchestra and even patiently sat through a 40-minute piece at a rehearsal!"
Chloe even inspired a piece of music Bruce wrote - Chloe the Orchestra Dog! She now recognises her song when she hears it. Feeling inspired, Bruce wrote three more pieces of music about her: ‘Terrier in a Time Tunnel’, ‘Chloe’s Night at the Theatre’ and ‘Chloe’s Adventures in the New World’. These pieces were written to teach folks more about the different instruments and the world of orchestral music.
We love this musical duo!
