What could be better than adopting one feline friend? Adopting two (and doubling the love and boops), of course! 🐱🐱
Empty nesters Ann and her partner did just that - adopting sweet brothers Max and Ash from Animals-In-Need via PetRescue.
The couple had recently lost their beloved cat at the ripe age of 20 and wanted to hear the pitter-patter of teeny kitty feet once again.
The couple decided they wanted to adopt a bonded pair of kitties so that they’d always have each other’s company - and a ready-made BFF!

They hopped onto PetRescue and started browsing through all the furry faces looking for homes when they came across Max and Ash;
“They are brothers but very different: Max has long hair and Ash is small and wiry with short hair. They are brothers in much the same way as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito are 'obviously' twins (from the 80s movie). They also seemed very cute and bonded.”
At first, Ann was a little apprehensive that they wouldn’t be the right fit for Max and Ash, but they surprised her with how quickly they settled in! Ann was careful to confine them to one room to help them slowly settle in and feel comfortable, but they soon seemed pretty relaxed and wanted to start exploring the house! Max was a little nervous, but having his brother there gave him confidence.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing in the early days, though. One night the pair managed to get out of the house, and they couldn’t find them in the bushy surroundings of their property. Max quickly returned, but Ash was gone for hours. Ann was devastated and concerned he wouldn’t return, but after two hours of searching, Ash turned up!
‘’A particularly special moment was the first time Ash sat up against me on the couch. It was proof that he felt safe and comfortable, and that made me feel like we had become home for them.
When the cats first came, they didn't make much eye contact, which I was used to with my old cat. Now we get the 'look' all the time, which I think means they trust us.”

Since bringing the brothers home, daily life has become much more fun!
‘’Max has got much more confident around us. He is a bit of a garbage guts, and will open the cupboard for me so that I can get out his biccies. Ash can and will climb anything - he is fast and wiry like a little ninja.
It’s nice to have company around the house when you are going about your business. Sometimes their 'help' isn't all that helpful, but they make the days interesting and enjoyable!’’
