This squidgy-faced Staffy girl has SO much to smile about!
When the Webb family in Perth saw Bub’s squishy little face on the PetRescue website, they fell in love with this pound pup from regional NSW.
The 4,480 kilometres that stood between them and a ‘happy ever after’ was no barrier at all, thanks to the amazingly dedicated team at Richmond Valley Council Animal Shelter, our awesome partner Jetpets, and our generous supporters.
“We have quite a few Staffies in our area,” says Louise Amey, Companion Animals Education Officer at Richmond Valley Council. “So when Matthew enquired to adopt Bub, and met all the criteria required, I was very excited and keen to place her with his family. The adoption was made so much easier when PetRescue and Jetpets co-ordinated a free flight!”
The PetRescue and Jetpets teams have been blown away by the sheer dedication and effort that Richmond Valley Council Animal Shelter invests in finding homes for the poundies in their care.
“Whenever I list dogs and cats on the PetRescue website, I always include that we are open to interstate adoptions. It’s a great way to connect pets with individuals looking for a new family member. Many people know what they are looking for, and it’s good to make it as easy as possible for them to find their match.
“I’m lucky enough to have access to a work vehicle, so I’m able to transport some pets to their new homes. We’ve sent quite a few dogs interstate, mostly to Queensland and Victoria. I’ve driven dogs as far as Port Macquarie. And when it was Bub’s turn, I drove her all the way from Casino to our nearest airport, which is a six-hour round trip!” says Louise.
The PetRescue team is so thrilled to be able to work with Richmond Valley Council and partner with Jetpets to assist pets like Bub in completing their journeys to find the love and care they deserve for life.
“There is nothing more satisfying than seeing dogs like Bub find a loving home,” adds Sandy Matheson, Managing Director at Jetpets Animal Transport. “It's particularly rewarding to assist in providing free flights to support the great work of organisations like Richmond Valley Council, where dogs are successfully rehomed.”
PetRescue has partnered with Jetpets since 2007, coordinating a provision of free interstate flights for homeless pets in need every month.
