The Matchmakers Project: New features to help your creatures
Inbox overflowing? Don’t have the resources to respond to all enquiries and applications, as much as you wish you could?
While it can be great to get lots of adoption interest and enquiries coming your way, it can also be stressful and time-consuming trying to keep up with it all. Even more so when your time is taken up responding to enquiries from potential adopters who just aren’t the right match for a particular pet, or for your rescue group’s adoption policies.
But hang in there. Faster and more effective matches between pets and adopters are coming your way!
We’ve been busy working with our web developers to redesign pet search and listing options, in order to make searches more targeted, to help reduce the number of unsuitable enquiries and to make better matches, quicker.
It’s the first stage of the PetRescue Matchmakers Project - an exciting initiative that will revolutionise the way people search for their new furry family member online.
The new listing and search options will allow for more targeted matches covering criteria such as:
- Kids under 5
- Kids under 6- 12
- Homes with a resident dog
- Homes with a resident cat
- Full-time workers (dog alone during work hours)
- Inside only cats
These options will effectively allow you to ‘exclude’ pets from certain searches - so that if you have a pet that’s, say, not suitable for kids under five, this pet will not appear in public searches made by those actively searching for a pet suitable for kids under five.
These fields will be appearing in the back end soon, so keep your eyes peeled when adding new listings.
Once we get a majority of listings with these fields completed, we will be able to roll out the new features in the front end search.
So the sooner you start using the soon-to-be-launched fields, the sooner we will have the data needed to roll out the new search options to potential adopters. Which will mean more suitable enquiries for your pets!
The second phase of the Matchmakers Project, which is also under development, will feature a new enquiry management system, incorporating mini adopter profiles and Tinder-style functionality that will enable rescue groups to quickly shortlist or redirect unsuitable applicants back to the website in one quick swipe or click.
We will keep you posted as the Matchmakers Project progresses - so please check the Members Area for updates!
