Meet Sam and Lilly: From love-at-first-sight to TV stardom
Sam and Lilly, the two stars of the PEDIGREE® TV ad, found each other via the PetRescue website and have a beautiful Happy Tail to tell. We caught up with Sam to talk over her adoption experience and see how the two are getting on.
“I have never had such a close relationship to another dog before. In the time we’ve had Lilly, she’s settled down and become very tuned into me and my emotions in so many ways. She always greets us at breakfast with a cheery ‘good morning’ woof!
“She can read my body language and knows exactly when we’re going for a walk - all I have to do is pick up my runners or the sunscreen! I can't imagine my life without her - she’s always with us and goes everywhere we go.”
The stars of the 2014 PEDIGREE Adoption Drive television ad, found each other through the PetRescue website over four years ago, when life-long pet-lover Samantha decided to save a life.
“When I first saw Lilly on PetRescue, there was something about her eyes that really grabbed me. It wasn’t a very good picture, very dark and blurry, but you could really see her eyes. I just thought, “I have to go and meet her!”
Sam headed down to Pets Haven soon after, and connected with Lilly right from the off. “She was this gorgeous border collie cross and her size and attitude fitted our lifestyle perfectly. I also really love all the work Pets Haven do, so it was great that I could help the group out by saving Lilly’s life.”
Lilly didn’t know it yet, but with the adoption forms signed, sealed and delivered, she was off to live with Sam in her new forever home. Right from day one, both of their lives were happier and brighter for being together.
“We’re regulars at our dog park, and Lilly likes to go up and say hello to everyone she knows. She also really LOVES the beach, and is a total water dog. We spend most days during the summer months at the beach, as she loves to swim and will do so for hours!
“After big days out she snores like there is no tomorrow, in her bed in the lounge, it makes us laugh.
“We are very lucky to share our lives with such a beautiful soul.”
You can help us keep saving pets too, by making a donation to our rehoming programs. It costs just $10 to match one of our rescue pets with their new family.
