Santapaws comes to town for foster kittens
The cute duo was recently adopted by Iza, who had been searching the PetRescue website for feline siblings, and knew from experience that adopted cats can turn out to be wonderful companions. She also loved the fact that, with Maceo and Harley, she’d get twice the amusement and kittenish frolics.
“We wanted two cats, so they could keep each other company, play together and, in a roundabout way, keep each other fit! Siblings are fun because, just like human brothers and sisters, they fight, squabble, play and sleep together. Harley won't even eat her wet food without her brother joining her. They are just so beautiful together. Harley purrs so loudly she really sounds like a Harley Davidson motorbike, and Maceo likes to talk to us with his distinctive chatter,” says Iza.
Maceo seems to take charge of the evening shift, while Harley uses every trick to get what she wants during the morning shift.
“The funniest thing is that Maceo tries to get us to go to bed in the evening. Around 9.30pm he gets restless and sits on our laps. And every time we get up from the sofa, he follows us out of the room and back to the sofa. When we finally go to bed, he makes sure we're in bed and then gets in his own bed.
“Harley then wakes us at 6am by standing on our heads and purring loudly in our ears. If that fails, then it’s the fluffy tail in the face treatment! She then has to have the curtain opened so she can sun bathe for an hour. She also informs us if the food is out, or the litter tray needs cleaning.”
Maceo and Harley have certainly made Iza’s household complete and brought genuine delight.
“They just make us happy and they are extremely affectionate,” says Iza. “They bring lots of laughter with their cute and playful ways. It makes us look forward to being at home and doing things as a family. I treasure the fact that we will all grow and develop together over the years.”
