Remembering Stippie
We all know the incredible place in our hearts we hold for our pets. They give us their love and loyalty unconditionally. Good day or bad, year in and year out, they are there for us.
One of those stories of loyalty is that of Stippie. It was November 2005 and PetRescue was still a start-up - just over 5,000 pets were adopted that year. One of those needing a home was a young dog, Sammy.
And it was on PetRescue that Sammy, who would now be known as Stippie, was found by his new owners Linda and Arjan.
“Even back then, getting a rescue pet through PetRescue was simple. We just headed online and started our search. We found ourselves on PetRescue when we saw this picture and description of a small pup called Sammy - his short bio said he needed a household where he could really feel like part of the family.”
Fast forward 15 years and Linda wrote to us in March this year...
“Stip crossed the Rainbow Bridge today - he was 17 years old - what a life!”
Our hearts broke on hearing this news. We’ve all experienced the deep sadness of losing a pet. But also sang with joy to celebrate how, thanks to the generosity of pet lovers this incredible connection was made.
Stippie was 'best dog' at Linda and Arjan's wedding.
Happy stories like this can and need to continue because right now, there are 5,548 pets urgently awaiting adoption on PetRescue who need your help.
“He was our best friend from Nov 2005 - March 2021. It was an absolute honour to care for Stip through his senior years - he lived to be 17. We are so thankful that PetRescue created the opportunity for us to connect.
In time, we hope to adopt another dog through PetRescue - your organisation changed our life.”
Can you make a generous donation today to help pets like Stippie find love?
