Meet Thea, Marc and their furry bestie, Poppy!
When Thea and Marc first laid eyes on puppy Poppy’s profile on PetRescue, it was love at first sight. Her vibrant personality shone through her pictures, and they immediately sent an enquiry through to POUND Rescue; the rescue organisation who had Poppy in their care.
The couple quickly organised to meet Poppy, which only solidified their decision to adopt her. “We fell in love with Poppy as soon as we saw her profile, and she was even more special in person,” Thea shared.
Thea told us that Debbie at POUND Rescue’s support was invaluable while Poppy settled into her new home. Her support didn’t end with the adoption; she generously continued to offer guidance and training assistance for months after Poppy joined their household.

“Getting to know Poppy's personality as she got more comfortable with us has been a highlight – she has a hilarious little personality, and we are still learning about her all the time!” Thea shared.
Like every furry (and non-furry!) family member, Poppy is an individual who has specific needs, and sometimes needs a little extra patience and love.
“She is a little different; she has additional needs and can be nervous in certain situations. It's taught us to be really patient and to be flexible with her and what we want from her,” Thea explained.
Adopting Poppy has made the couple more active, and introduced them to their local community of dog guardians. “She gets us up and moving, even when we don't feel like it! We have met other people at the park with her, and she makes our house feel like a home,” Thea said.
Thea says about her experience using the PetRescue website to find her BFF; “the platform is extremely easy to use, and we loved looking through photos of dogs and reading about their personalities.”
“Poppy's pictures and description on PetRescue were just like she was when we met her - she's a little ball of energy, often outrunning every dog at the dog park, but also loves to curl up with you on the lounge after a long day of sunbaking!”

Thea and Marc love taking Poppy on beach trips, where she can dig, swim, and run to her heart’s content. There hasn’t been a dull moment since Poppy was adopted by the couple, with her recently joining them on camping adventures across New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania!
“Poppy has made our lives so much brighter. She has taught us patience and compassion and is just such a special little dog. It's hard to imagine a time she wasn't part of our family!”
She has taught us so much about life and how to be patient and how to love unconditionally! She is well and truly part of the family, and we feel so lucky to be her pawrents!” says Thea.
