More ways you made a difference
Here are four new pawsome initiatives that wouldn’t have been possible without your support. With these in place, we’re now helping to save more lives and find more homes than ever before.
Workplace Foster Program
When we surveyed our animal rescue members, the one need they all shared was the desperate need for new foster carers to care for pets while they wait for their forever homes. PetRescue’s new Workplace Foster Program is one way we are helping our members to save the lives of more pets. We also know that furry friends are proven to improve the physical and mental health of the people around them, so opening the workplace to foster dogs will have a huge range of benefits for businesses, individuals and for the dogs themselves! Find out more about our Workplace Foster Program.
Website accessibility and usability improvements
The PetRescue website had a mini-makeover in the last few months to improve accessibility and usability and help everyone (including one in five Australians with visual or cognitive impairment) to find their new best friend online. Bigger text and bolder colours create a sexy new layout that's easy to navigate. Shiny new social share buttons create great-looking posts to help homeless pets catch the eyes of all friends, fans and followers. And a new link to the rescue group, shelter or pound let’s pet seekers easily see who is caring for the pet and who will be handling enquiries to foster or adopt. Library of help articles for potential adopters and owners
We have lots of great content for pet seekers and pet owners on the PetRescue website, but, for quite some time, it wasn’t particularly easy to find and access. Now, with a brand new library landing page, all of our articles for help and advice, animal welfare advocacy, happy adoption stories and other PetRescue news can all be accessed in this one central place. And there’s more great content coming soon to help potential adopters and owners alike. Check out the new library and watch this space.
