Love-struck with Lucy
Lucy and Brooke...More and more animal lovers are choosing the adoption option when they discover how much fun it is to find their perfect match with the PetRescue website. And for some, like Brooke and Lucy, it’s virtual love at first sight.
“I was really keen to rescue, but it worried me that visiting an animal shelter would be distressing,” said Brooke. “Either that, or I’d end up adopting a whole carload of kitties through not wanting to choose between them!”
Being able to search for a feline friend online and save a life had real appeal for Brooke and her partner Miles.
“I never realised that choosing your family could be so much fun,” said Brooke. “We had a great time searching through the profiles for a pet whose personality would complement us and our two-year-old cat Sooty.”
When Lucy’s pretty little face caught their eye, it was her profile that really stole their hearts. “The friendliest cat in the shelter, it read,” recalled Brooke.
Lucy was three years old, with kittens of her own who had already been adopted, and the idea of bringing a mature cat into their lives really appealed to Brooke. “Lucy would have already developed a personality all of her own, so if we hit it off from the start, we knew we’d have a loving kitty for life.”
Arriving at Bluecross Rescue, Brooke could hardly wait to find Lucy’s enclosure. “As I scooped her up in my arms, she immediately started purring as she looked into my eyes. And that was it, I was in love.”
With such a quick and easy adoption process, Brooke was able to whisk Lucy off to settle into her new life straight away.
“An affectionate, funny and snuggly girl, Lucy has brought so much joy into our lives,” said Brooke. “Even though she’s a little older, she still has a mischievous streak, and loves chasing foil balls and play fighting with Sooty. However, her favourite way to spend the evening is snoozing on our laps – a great comfort after a hard day! Thank you PetRescue for helping us find our special girl.”
You can help us keep saving pets too, by making a donation to our rehoming programs. It costs just $10 to match one of our rescue pets with their new family.
