Layla receives the best gift of all 💚
Remember adorable big girl Layla from PetRescue’s 12 Pets of Christmas campaign?
Layla had been in the care of the wonderful folks at Goulburn Mulwaree Council for over three months and just wanted a loving home of her own.
Well, it’s time to celebrate because a wonderful human has just welcomed her into their home (and heart!)
Her new human, James came across her profile online and enquired about her via her PetRescue profile.
“I wanted to adopt a pet to give an animal a second chance and a good happy life, I also needed some company and a bit of emotional support. I had been looking for a doggo friend for a couple of months, joining a few Facebook groups and looking at adoption websites.
I joined one dog adoption Facebook group and after a couple of weeks, I saw someone share a photo and some information on Layla. I immediately took an interest in her and followed the directions on the post. I made a PetRescue account and submitted an enquiry for her, and I got a call from the council to book a meet and greet. The PetRescue website was easy to navigate and use and there were lots of details about the animals.”
James set up a meet-and-greet with the council and hopped in the car for the hour and twenty-minute journey to meet Layla.
“I felt a bond right away, and I knew we would be best friends. I agreed to adopt her and she joined me on the car trip home. Since then we've gone on lots of walks, explored new places, played with new toys, had a bath and learned some new tricks. She follows me around the house everywhere I go, sleeps right next to me and is even comfortable farting in front of me!”
As you can tell from her photos, Layla has already made herself at home.
“I think we are both very happy with each other. I needed a bit of emotional support and she needed a loving and caring home. We have already become best friends and support each other each day.
Layla can sense when I’m feeling sad and she will come up to me and give kisses; she has brought immediate compassion into my life. Layla has nightmares and some anxiety at times and I let her know everything is okay.”
This special girl is going to wake up on Christmas day to endless cuddles and love!
