Here's what we achieved together in 2020
2020 was an unforgettable year for all of us. But for rescue pets, it was an unprecedented year. We saw a historic surge in demand for pets listed on PetRescue, and this is because of all the background work you have put in to make rescue pets mainstream.
So thank you, thank you for continuing your vital life-saving work which brings so much happiness to humans and pets.
63,621
Lucky pets listed on PetRescue found homes in 2020...
like senior doggo, Sonic, who was adopted from the Gilgandra Shire Council pound just in time for Christmas!
371,756
Enquiries received for pets listed - that's one every two minutes!
6,851,768
Pet lovers visited PetRescue.com.au, almost 53% higher the previous year! A whopping 75% of these were new visitors and potential adopters looking to find their pet.
9,473
Calls for support were handled by our small helpdesk team which operates all year round to help pet lovers, adopters, and rescue organisations.
Huge time-saving for life-saving updates were added to the platform that helped rescue organisations save a total of 11,874 hours and 54 minutes, streamlining the enquiry process for adopters.
(that's, collectively, almost 1 and a half years worth of work!)
34 pets were fast-tracked directly to new homes
Leaving valuable space and resources for more vulnerable pets via our Home2Home pilot program.
$40,000 invested towards groundbreaking urban stray cat research
to stem the flow of cats going into pounds and reduce the burden on rescue organisations.
…and Felix was the first kitten to be rehomed after being desexed and microchipped via the program!
$961,966 worth of food
was donated to 7,352 at-risk pets.
That’s a whopping 95,850 kg of food to 257 PetRescue member rescue organisations and community outreach organisations across five states. This helped members save thousands of dollars in pet food, allowing them to use their resources to save more lives.
Working Paws Dog Rescue
$200,601 worth of dog coats
were donated to PetRescue Member organisations thanks to our friends at Doggone Gorgeous, Ruff N Rugged and PETstock
