Dear Belly-Boo, we heart you - PetRescue
Our strength isn’t measured by how many curveballs life throws at us, rather, how we choose to deal with them. And a shining example of admirable strength and resilience came through in a heartfelt letter we received from one of our adopters, Emily.
Emily found Bella on PetRescue when she was ready to welcome a pet into her life. Ever since Emily adopted Bella (or Belly Boo as Emily fondly calls her) from Pets Haven last year, they’ve been the best gal-pals, pursuing all kinds of amazing adventures together.
When her Bella got sick, Emily chose to stay positive and ensure that Bella lives out the rest of her days making all kinds of wonderful memories with her and her family.
As an organisation that believes in the power of love, we hope that Emily and Bella have memorable days to look forward to, filled with laughter and happiness
Read Emily’s letter to us below.
Bella
We had just moved out of home and I was longing for a pet. I had space in my home and so much love in my heart to give.
One night, I decided to search on PetRescue to see the dogs available in my state. At this point, I was in tears. I applied for as many as I could.
The next day, I received a phone call that changed my whole life. I was asked to come meet Bella, a nine-and-a-half-year-old girl. This bichon-mix was a little rough around the edges, but she was the most beautiful dog I had ever seen.
It was like fate brought us together. She was meant to be in our family, she belongs in our home. The consistent urge I had to find a dog that could complete our home was fulfilled.
Emily and Bella
The moment I walked in to meet Bella, she jumped into my arms and gave me so many kisses. My heart felt full and I knew that I could give her the most amazing and fulfilling life. I took her home that night, it was the best day of my life.
I have had Bella since October 2018. During this time, I have taken Bella on many adventures to the beach, as well as regular visits to the drive-ins, although she is most fond of getting a puppycino at our local cafe.
This time has also been quite challenging. Just before Christmas, we found a suspicious lump on Bella's paw. Bella had surgery to remove the lump, however, it came back and spread to other areas of her body. We are doing everything to give Bella the most comfortable, enjoyable and loving life, and yes, our bed is now her bed.
Belly-Boo has the most enthusiastic personality and always keeps us entertained. She has given us so much joy and happiness, which she expresses through her howling in excitement, her smile and her loving nature.
