When you think about a dog living in an inner-city apartment, you might be picturing a tiny lap dog. But Alfie is here to prove that with some preparation, training and lots of fun walkies, it’s paws-ible for a dog of any shape or size to live their best life in an apartment!
Raúl adopted Alfie as a roly-poly little 14-week-old pup from Wally’s Dog Rescue via PetRescue in 2021. Raúl was looking for a companion to share his life with; “the moment I met Alfie he was in a play pen with his siblings and he saw me and came running towards me, it was truly love at first sight!”

Raúl sings the praises of Jo from Wally’s Dog Rescue, who very generously gifted Raúl with some goodies for Alfie, including some food, a collar, a lead and a bed. The rescue organisation’s vet, Two by Two Vet were also a great help in getting Alfie settled in.
Around the same time Raúl adopted Alfie, his sister, Cristina, also adopted his brother, Munchie! The pair live in the suburbs and love walking around their local lake where they meet up with all of Munchie’s friends.

These days, Raúl and Alfie are living their best life on the sunny shores of Sydney;
“We live in Potts Point and enjoy going for walks around Rushcutters Bay and having a little swim at Elizabeth Bay. He is my best friend and a great companion; everyone loves him! I enjoy going to cafes with Alfie, he is the most friendly dog with people and dogs alike.”

Alfie has adjusted well to apartment life, with Raúl telling us that he loves riding the elevator and sitting on the balcony watching the neighbourhood go by. Raul says, “I have trained him well, he is toilet trained and waits to go outdoors to do his business, but also has a washable wee wee mat just in case inside the apartment.”

Having Alfie as his best friend and companion has had a huge impact on Raul’s life;
“Alfie became my loyal friend and companion, giving me unconditional love, and I love him dearly. He is such a loving and friendly dog. He gives me a reason to keep fit and healthy and socialising with our walks. My life is more active and engaging for having Alfie with me. Alfie cares for me when I am sick and will cuddle me, making sure I am okay. I love him to bits and he loves me right back.”
