Adoptables Impact 2017
Back in June, we launched The Adoptables campaign to give 40+ senior and special needs pets an extra helping hand to find a loving forever home. Where are they now? We’ve been catching up with the adopted Adoptables and the amazing impact this campaign has achieved, thanks to our kind supporters.
Bonded pair Rebel and Charli, from Little Paws Orphan Rescue, are two of the 20 happily adopted ‘Adoptables’ and now go by the names Rufus and Chloe. “Rufus is a big smoocher with the loudest purr,” says adopter, Susan. “Chloe was a timid little girl when she arrived, but after about 10 days she jumped up on my lap to have a nap! That was amazing. I felt incredibly loved and satisfied.”
Thanks to some true pet-loving professional photographers who volunteered their time and expertise, we were able to organise free photoshoots for 15 Adoptables who needed it most - including shy girl, Daphne from Greyhound Rescue Victoria, who’s now happily adopted.
Sketch, the FIV kitty from SAFE Avon Valley, was one of 29 Adoptables to get a free profile rewrite in 2017, thanks to our volunteer writers. This gorgeous silver fox, now adopted and renamed Chilli, is living the most amazing retirement as a travelling cat for three months of the year! “He rubs his chin against you so hard and loves to hop into bed at night and sleep under my arm,” says adopter Leslee. “He’s much more affectionate than my two dogs, he’s the best cat ever!”
Annie, from SAFE Karratha, was one of 39 Adoptables to be featured in their own boosted post/paid ad on Facebook, and one of the first to go on trial in a new home. The resident doggo didn’t get on well with Annie, so we put up another paid ad for her and it wasn’t long before she found her perfect forever home in Golden Bay, WA.
There was only one application for Oliver in response to the paid ad we ran on Facebook, but as his carer Anne, from Pet Rescue Adoption Service said, “Just one, but that's all it takes!” Between the other 40+ pets that were featured in the campaign, 80+ email applications were received for The Adoptables pets via PetRescue.
Your generosity meant that our fundraising target was reached before June 30th. So we made a pledge to direct all gifts donated on the last day of tax time to the rescue groups who nominated their pets for The Adoptables campaign. All donations received were kindly matched by Woolworths Pet Insurance, making a grand total of $55,000 to help pets in need of specialist vet care, like Evie, from The Animal Protection Society of WA Inc.
We want to create a future where every rescue pet in Australia finds a forever home. With your kind support, we’re able to provide FREE programs and support services to hundreds of rescue groups, shelters and pounds - including free promotions for senior and special needs pets like Molly, from Chihuahua Rescue Australia Inc.
One of the biggest barriers to pet adoption we face today is the lack of response from rescue groups who are overworked and under resourced and often struggle to respond to all adoption enquiries. But we understand that when someone falls in love with a pet on PetRescue, and their enquiries go unanswered, it can be very disheartening. The solution is Matchmakers - a tech solution to connect more pets with adopters, faster!
Our amazing partner, Woolworths Pet Insurance, made a pledge to match ALL donations made to our Adoptables campaign during the last week of tax time. That total reached an amazing $103,275 in matched gifts. They also want to help you take care of your best friend, so they’re offering the first 2 months free* on all new pet insurance policies. Woolworths Pet Insurance is Australia's best value pet insurance - if you find a cheaper comparable quote, they'll beat it^.
On behalf of the PetRescue team and all The Adoptables
thank you for your kind support.
