About the Safe & Sound Pounds Program
Making pounds a safe place for all pets
Do you know that every day, the lives of lost and homeless pets are in the hands of local government, at your local council pound? Do you know what happens to these pets in your community? Every year, around 110,000 dogs and cats are being killed in Australia’s pounds and we’re working to change that.
Safe & Sound Pounds aims to give every pet a chance
Our goal is to give all pound pets the chance of finding the love of a new family with a profile on Australia’s most visited charity website - PetRescue. But to achieve that, we first need to work with Australia’s pounds to overcome the obstacles and challenges to introducing their own direct-from-pound adoption program.
A small number of proactive pounds are now members of PetRescue and have begun listing their pets for adoption. You can view the updated list of member pounds here.
