A PetRescue vollie’s advice to adopters
PetRescue vollie Claire is one of the 52,000+ adopters that embraced the love of a rescue pet in 2020 via our platform so far. And boy did she find the pawfect quarantine feline for cuddles...
Meet... Roger who was adopted from CK Rescue! 😍
ADORABLE ISN'T HE?! We had to catch up with Claire and get the deets on this cute little man, obviously.
Are you looking to welcome a cat into your life as well? Here’s Claire’s thoughts…
💚 On her adoption experience…
I returned from overseas in April after living there for the past 9 months and it took me a few months to feel settled enough to get a new cat, I wanted to make sure I was 100% ready. Once I applied for Roger, I was offered a video meet and greet, he was as beautiful as his pics. I picked him up a couple of days later and he settled in really quickly.
I was searching PetRescue everyday to see what cats were available. I do love the gingers and I knew I wanted an adult cat who often take longer to find a new home. When I saw Roger it was love at first sight. He was not only beautiful but had the personality I was looking for, affectionate and cuddly.
🐈 On finding the right pet…
Find a pet that suits you and your lifestyle. Living alone, a cat is perfect for me because they’re quite independent and can manage on their own when I’m at work or out, but also love company.
Rescue groups really know about the animals in their care so read the descriptions well and make sure you’re adopting a pet that you know you can give a good home to based on the carers observations. Also take some time with your application and put as much information as possible.
Claire and Roger are making the best of lockdown with each other!
😨 On the one thing she says all cats are terrified of...
They (cats) definitely have their own little personalities and every cat I’ve owned has been really different. One thing is for sure, they’re all terrified of the vacuum cleaner!
🙃 On Roger’s silly antics…
He’s very vocal in the morning! He will be quiet with no meowing all day and night but come first thing in the morning when he’s up, he definitely wants me up too. He’s scared of little random noises too, like when I spray deodorant and cooking something in the fry pan. Like most cats he loves his sleep but when he’s not he loves playing with ping pong balls and he’s like a kitten again. He also loves leaning his head on things like my using my Ugg boot as a pillow, the other day he was using a power adaptor ha ha.
🌈 And finally how this purry munchkin has changed her universe…
Pets are such great company and with being in lockdown for so long, it’s been so good having him here. The poor thing is probably sick of me ha-ha.
