250,000th adopted pet suits new family to a Tee
Meet Tee, our 250,000th adoptee. This big, beautiful hunk of love is the face of so many happy tails, so many homes and hearts warmed with the unconditional love a rescue pet brings.
And while Tee is our 250,000th pet, his new family thinks he’s one in a million.
With two young children at home, finding a dog that was great with kids was top priority for parents Anne-Marie and Shaun Salisbury.
Friends and family advised them to buy a puppy so it could grow up around the kids, but Anne-Marie and Shaun knew they wanted to give a needy rescue dog a loving home.
The family contacted rescue group SAFE Perth about a dog they’d seen on the PetRescue website. That dog was already rehomed, but the rescue group suggested another possible match.
“We thought we’d go and have a look, even though he didn’t quite sound like what we were looking for,” says Anne-Marie.
“As soon as we met him he bounded up to Zen, my six-year-old son, sat down next to him and we thought ‘he’s the one’ – all of us fell in love. He just clicked with everyone, especially the kids.”
Now Tee loves nothing more than curling up and watching TV with his new bestie Zen, and running under the sprinklers with the couple’s daughter Jaz, aged five.
“He absolutely loves the kids. He checks on them at night, goes past their rooms to make sure they are asleep,” smiles Anne-Marie.
It’s certainly a long way from the country pound where Tee found himself after his elderly owner fell ill. Now Tee enjoys the comforts of a safe and loving home, and a little boy has a new best friend.
