About Forget Me Not Rescue
Forget Me Not is a not-for-profit, no-kill bird and small animal (mice and rat) rescue and rehoming group, founded in 2018 with a compassionate vision to provide a temporary home to all abandoned, stray, or unwanted animals, as well as those at high risk of euthanasia in pounds. Our mission is clear: to protect and advocate for animals in need, while building a community that promotes compassion.
While we continue to assist all animals, our primary focus is rescuing birds. This decision reflects our founder's extensive expertise as a veterinary nurse and wildlife biologist, along with over 10 years of experience caring for pet birds.
As dedicated advocates for animal rights, we believe the overall care for companion birds needs to improve within society, including stronger regulations around the breeding and selling of companion birds.
Forget Me Not Sanctuary currently houses over 20 birds.
Forget Me Not Rescue is more than just a sanctuary; it's a movement fueled by compassion, education, and unwavering integrity. Our vision is clear: every animal has the right to live a life free from harm. We envision a world where all animals are valued and treated with the respect they deserve.
Driven by our passion for animal welfare, we advocate tirelessly for the rights and well-being of our furry, feathered, and scaled friends. Every action we take is rooted in thoughtfulness, responsiveness, and unwavering dedication to our cause.
Forget Me Not Rescue was born out of a compassionate act by a vet nurse who rescued a raven named Poe in 2018. Poe had a broken leg and was not viable for release, but through veterinary care and rehabilitation, Poe made a full recovery and was released back into the wild with the help of an experienced wildlife carer. This rescue inspired the creation of Forget Me Not Rescue, in honor of Poe, and serves as a reminder of the impact one act of kindness can have on the lives of animals in need.
