Needy Paws is a group of people who wish to prevent the unnecessary deaths of animals in pounds.
It is expected that people considering adopting an animal from Needy Paws Dog Rescue will read this policy and abide by its contents. If a person considering adopting an animal does not agree with this documents content’s then an adoption will NOT proceed.
All animals must be desexed, vaccinated and micro chipped before an adoption will be considered. Where animals are too young to be desexed at the time of adoption the new owner must agree to this being carried out when the animal is old enough at their expense and then demonstrate to Needy Paws that the procedure has taken place. Requests for an animal not to be desexed will not be considered under any circumstances and no adoption will take place if this request is made.
All animals are vet checked and in good health when adopted. Needy Paws Dog Rescue accepts no responsibility for any vet work needed once the animal leaves the care of a Needy Paws Dog Rescue member.
Persons considering adopting an animal can expect to be told the truth about an animal’s personality, habits and about any known medical conditions.
Animals must be paid for in full before they leave the care of Needy Paws Dog Rescue. Payment plans can be agreed to however the animal will not leave the care of Needy Paws Dog Rescue until full payment is received.
All animals that are moved to a new home are considered to be on a one week trial. If the new owner decides to return the animal within or up to the one week trial period a full refund will be given of the adoption fee and the animal returned to Needy Paws Dog Rescue. After the end of the one week trial period no refund will be given. Where distance is involved it is expected that the person returning the animal will work with Needy Paws Dog Rescue and be patient while travel arrangements are made. Needy Paws Dog Rescue will pay the reasonable cost of returning the animal.
All animals are micro chipped at the time of adoption. The microchip will be changed into the name of the person adopting the animal at the end of the one week trial period. Needy Paws will complete all paperwork to change micro chip details and notify Griffith City Council of the new owner’s details. New owners are responsible for the cost of registration with their local council.
All efforts will be made to transport the animal to the person adopting the animal in a safe and timely way. When professional transport is used either by road or air the cost of this is to be met by the person adopting the animal.
We use our experience and the advice of our rangers and vet to age our animals and we can never be 100% sure of their breed. Most of our animals come from pounds so we can never be sure of their exact age. When council staff place a birth date on an animal’s record they use a date based on an estimation of the animals age.
A deposit of $150 is required to be paid when a request is made to Needy Paws to place an animal on hold. Should the person decide not to proceed with the adoption this deposit is not generally refunded. When we placed a dog on hold it is no longer available for adoption so if people change their minds the dog will have likely missed out on other opportunities and we have will have invested in having all the animals vet work carried out.
