About Rome - 1 Year Old Kelpie X Staffy
PLEASE NOTE – Medical notes for Rome below.
Hi! My name is Rome, so I’m told, but I am not really used to it yet. My foster mum calls me Romie. I’m 1 year old and have the energy and physique of a Kelpie but the snuggle bug lapdog attitude of a Staffy…. so in short, I’m AWESOME!
I love playing tug-of-war with my foster brother and sister and going for car rides and hanging my head out the window, (who doesn’t?). I also love fun wrestles with my brother. I also live with my 15-year-old older foster brother and I leave him alone to enjoy a slower pace of life.
I’m super friendly and love meeting new people and dogs out on my walks or at the dog park. I don’t mind a Puppacino at the local cafe. My mum says that’s the cool thing to do on a Saturday morning.
I absolutely adore other dogs and would benefit from having another doggy friend as a companion to hang out with and learn from. I’m still learning how to walk on the lead. I like to go all over the place but keen to know how to do it right. I didn’t get much training or exposure as a puppy, and I really need my forever family to help me with all the things I missed out on.
I am happy playing with my foster siblings during the day while Mums at work, but just love it when my hoomans get home. I currently like sleeping with my foster Mum, but she has said, when my real Mummy comes along, I will need to sleep on my own somewhere in the house. I also love to run free and play, could that be something we can do together?
I can sit and wait patiently for my food and am happy to just follow my foster family around at the beach. My foster siblings are trying to show me how to swim in the lake but I’m still a bit unsure. My foster mum says more training would be great for me as I’m super smart, and it will continue to build up my confidence so I can be the best doggo possible for my new family.
My forever family will need to have an active lifestyle and provide me with plenty of exercise and mental stimulation, as I am supposed to be a working dog. I have energy to burn and an enthusiasm for life so would make a great camping buddy. I would love a home with another dog but would be happy if my mum and dad were home most of the time. I love my hoomans so much, I just want to be inside with you when my family is home.
I do get excited around new people and can jump up and may knock smaller children over but then cover them in kisses. I’m not a jumper so my new home will need standard fencing with no small gaps. Rural fencing such as mesh or wire would be fine as long as the gaps are not big enough for me to get through
My foster mum says I’m just the best girl ever with so much love to give! Could you be my forever person?
SPECIAL NEEDS – Rome has epilepsy which is easily controlled with medication that costs $5-7 per week. She has not had any seizures while in care. She also has hip dysplasia which does not effect her running and playing, but she sometimes needs help getting into the car. This is why fencing can be shorter. Her foster carer currently uses Rosehip Vital on her food occasionally.
Rome is in foster care in Charlestown, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.
Rome's adoption fee is $500 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms and microchipped.
