About Mae- Dingo
Looking for a cuddly companion with abounding energy, intelligence and a loyal nature? Look no further than this pawsome pup. Mae came to us a 5-week-old orphan dingo pup and was hand raised at our shelter by adoring volunteers.
Mae is great with people, outgoing and adventurous and would suit a household with another dog or dingo for company. Mae will be around 18-20kg fully grown and would love a home with a doggy or dingo friend of a similar size or bigger. No small dogs, cats or pocket pets please!
Mae is great with people including older kids, she loves climbing and exploring, she’s active, playful and adventurous and is a looking for an energetic home who can keep her busy!
A home with kids over 5 (or no kids) would be best as she will grow into a boisterous young dingo and might be too energetic for very young children.
Mae is extremely smart and food motivated, she is currently learning toilet training and using puppy pads. She is also learning to walk on lead and has some basic crate training, she is good in the car but will need more practice with her new family.
Mae new home would ideally continue her training and book her in for puppy school! Dingoes are smart energetic animals and training and good socialization are an absolute must.
Mae has a short desert-type coat, which is low maintenance and will only require brushing when she sheds her winter coat. Dingoes are extremely clean animals and will often groom themselves.
Mae is not suitable to live in an apartment and will need a secure backyard, ideally with another dog or dingo for company.
Fencing requirements:
Mae is a high content dingo
A high content dingo typically has two dingo parents or a large amount of dingo genetics. High content dingoes are often known as “pure dingoes”. High-content dingoes are generally intelligent, independent animals and we recommend anyone considering adoption take the time to research these amazing animals prior to adoption, email us at info@sfdr.org for an adoption information pack.
High content dingoes have much stricter fencing requirements due to their climbing ability. They also cannot typically be let off the leash as they do not learn good recall (come back when called). You will need ONE OR MORE of the follow BEFORE an adoption trial for a high content dingo can begin.
- A 2.2m colour-bond or paling fence with nothing leaning against or near the fence line
- A 1.8m fence (of any sturdy material) with a 45 degree inward facing over-hang of 60cm to prevent climbing (see here: https://sanctuarysos.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/cat-proof-fence-barrier-to-keep-cats-safe-in-tshe-garden.jpg ).
- A dog enclosure at least 1.8m high with eitsher a full roof or 45 degree inward facing over-hang of 60cm to prevent climbing. Must be at least 25m square (for instance 5m x 5m or 8m x 3m)
- Mesh, concrete or similar around the base of the fence may also be required
Some manufacturers of pre-made dog enclosures include:

Another option is using construction fencing style panels from bunnings or weldedmesh sheets and posts.

3. If your application is approved- Come along to meet us and our dingoes at our Goulburn shelter or their foster carers' home and let us find the right furry family member for you. We can also come to you. We are happy to meet new prospective owners anywhere in NSW or the ACT.
