About Marli
Marli is sweet, clever, and the perfect blend of 'chill' and energy. Marli is so eager to learn and please and has been a delight to train while in foster care. At home, Marli is house trained and extremely affectionate to her family. Marli has an easy-care coat, and is happy to be brushed and have her nails clipped. Out in the garden, she has never dug or been destructive - always a perfect house guest. She does sometimes like to nibble her own blanket as though it gives her comfort. Out and about, Marli is excellent in the car - she hops in and out and travels quietly while she is chauffeured.
If you like playing fetch, so does Marli! She will also play games by herself, tossing her toy and catching it again, and doing zoomies. She is super cute and fun to watch.
Marli's foster carer is a dog trainer and so she has had so much training learning a bunch of tricks in foster care! She knows how to put her toys away in a bucket, to shake paws, and to weave between your legs - plus so many more tricks that she actually has her Novice Trick Dog Title. She is just so clever and loves to learn. She has also shown some interest in agility - out on walks she's encouraged to jump over logs, walk along the top of walls, and jump onto benches. Marli is developing an excellent recall, and with further training she will be able to be exercised off leash. She loves the beach and shows an interest in learning to swim. Really, Marli is a dog that can be whoever you want her to be!
When Marli first arrived into care, she was a bit nervous and sensitive to the world. While she has developed a lot of confidence in her time with her foster carer, she needs an owner who will continue to take Marli out and about, and continue to guide and train her to show her that she is safe. Marli can be a little bit shy in warming up to strangers. She needs a family that will recognise that Marli is not likely to be 'love at first sight' - but with patience, she could absolutely be the perfect companion. Marli is best suited to the home of a single person or a couple. A home with children would be too much for Marli to deal with! Out on walks, Marli happily ignores people. Marli is not a 'social butterfly' and instead is committed to being close friends with those select few that she trusts.
Marli is still working on her manners with dogs and can bark when first meeting new dogs. She may be appropriate to a home with a calm male dog her size or bigger. Dogs that are noisy, bouncy, or rough are not from Marli. She would rather live as an only dog than have to live with dogs that she finds silly and irritating. Her new home needs to be committed to continue to work on Marli's dog manners. With guidance, Marli can walk side-by-side with other dogs and is getting better day by day.
Marli thinks feline friends are fun to chase and so is not suitable to a home with cats. She has been living with a chicken without incident.
Marli loves to go with her family out in the car and out-and-about. She is okay with being left home alone for short periods, but she is still learning how to be left alone for hours at a time.
Marli is located in Adelaide, and we would prefer a local home as she is a very precious and special girl and we would like to be available to support her in her new home. Marli comes with a two week trial period to make sure she is the perfect fit for your household.
Initial contact can be made to Marli’s Trainer, Kate Lloyd - email katelloyd@internode.on.net or text 0404 464 793.

Marli will only go to a breeder-approved home. Marli is being re-homed via her breeder, who is an ANKC (Dogs Australia) registered breeder, located in the Adelaide Hills. (You are welcome to arrange to meet Marli's mother).
