About Arlo
Hey there, I'm Arlo, a 3.5-year-old Kelpie x Border Collie mix, and I'm ready to be your new best friend! Life has been quite the journey for me, and I'm excited to find a new human who can understand and support me in becoming the best version of myself.
I've got a bright and enthusiastic personality that's impossible to ignore. One of my absolute favourite things in the world is chasing after balls and Frisbees. Throw one my way, and you'll see me spring into action with all the energy I've got. I've also got a thing for trick training. I can't help but get thrilled about learning new moves, whether it's through verbal commands, whistles, or just some fancy hand signals. I've got that working-dog intelligence that's itching to impress you.
When we're not out and about, you might find me enjoying a relaxing drive or even skateboarding alongside you. Just a heads up, if those wheels hit the pavement, I'm ready to give you a little tug – it's my way of sharing the fun! Speaking of relaxation, I'm pretty good at being home alone during the day. I'll snooze away in the sun, and if you're around, I'm more than happy to chill right there with you. I've got that perfect balance of independence and cuddle-lover all rolled into one furry package.
Now, let's talk about my quirks. I'll admit it, I have a few. You see, I can get a little territorial about my stuff – it's a bit embarrassing, but when I'm resource-guarding, I might get a little nippy. If I'm asked to do something I'm not too thrilled about or if you try to slip something over my head too quickly, I might give a little warning nip too. But don't worry, I'm a work in progress, and with some understanding and training, I'm sure I can overcome these habits. Oh, and about my paws and nails – they're just a sensitive spot for me. I promise I'm worth the effort though!
And then there's the vet... Let's just say, I'm not the bravest soul when it comes to those visits. I experienced some traumatic time at the vets, and it takes a little sedation and a muzzle to keep me in check. But I'm working on it, I promise!
When it comes to other dogs, I'm a social butterfly. Most of my furry pals consider me a friendly and playful companion. I'm not into herding, though – I'd rather play fetch any day!
I'm seeking a human who's not just a companion, but a mentor. Someone who's savvy with dogs and can continue guiding me through behavioural training. If you're someone who revels in outdoor activities, then count me in! Long walks, runs, and playtime are right up my alley. And hey, mental stimulation is vital – puzzles, toys, and brain-teasers keep me on my toes.
So, if you're ready for a smart, energetic, and loving buddy by your side, I'm here, waiting with my wagging tail and hopeful eyes. Let's embark on this journey together and make countless memories that'll keep us smiling for years to come!
