From her beautiful foster mumma:
Sookie is a gorgeous mastif x seeking a specific home. Due to her more reserved nature and desire for affection, she needs a home willing to provide her with that affection and the ability to, at times, be allowed inside.
Sookie spent the first 6 months of her life, having never left the back yard and when she first arrived to her foster home, she was terrified of everything and everyone (even her own reflection). However, with a few months of training and structured walking she has come a long way. She can sit, drop, stay and come on command but she still has a ways to go with being able to be no longer terrified in public places. Her reaction is to bark but this has decreased dramatically. Once settled into her forever home, she would benefit from ongoing training so she can be the best behaved girl ever! She loves her treats making treat training much easier.
She is a total cuddle monster, she loves affection and you will find her paw just slightly touching you every chance she gets. Whilst she likes to be near you, she also loves her own company, and likes to sit on the balcony or outside in the yard and people watch.
Although Sookie originally came from a home with kids, she was never part of the family. She
would thrive in an environment with interactive adults, or kids who want to play with her; or other dogs who want to play. In her foster home she tries to get the resident 13yo staffy to play, to no avail. She plays with her human 5yo foster brother everyday; and is very gentle with him.
Sookie will make a beautiful addition to her new family or person who will love and cherish her and give her the best life. Whilst she would love a family she also seems to connect heavily to one person to love the most and would be great for a single person / couple. Ongoing socialisation would be ideal, she does get scared by intimidating and overly confident dogs, she would benefit extremely well from a well behaved dog mate that can teach her how to enjoy all the beautiful activities dogs can do!
Sookie has a moderate energy level, she has a couple of energetic moments during the day however she is mostly just just chilling, sun baking and lazing around.
Sookie is house trained and sleeps inside day and night, she comes and goes, in and out of the house as she pleases. She has rules on which couches she is allowed in and sticks to the rules, she loves soft toys and teddies.
Whilst she is slender she is tall and long and considered a large size.
