About Shellie and Stevie
Shellie and Stevie the sweetest sisters
Meet these gorgeous cornish rex sisters. They came into care with behavioural problems which we have been working on. They are doing incredibly well and are now ready to find their forever home together.
Some important information to get out of the way.
* They don’t get along with other cats at all in fact even the smell of other cats triggers behavioural issues. They need to be the only cats in the home.
* They are indoor only cats
* They bully small size dogs but have been getting along with CALM medium size dogs. Calm being the key word bouncy, boisterous and high energy dogs stress them out.
* No kids under 12 Whilst shellie is amazing with toddlers and kids Stevie is not a fan and deserves a home without toddlers/kids where she can truely feel comfortable.
* These guys have had behavioural issues it’s important their new family are willing to listen and take advice so the transition is as smooth as possible. We have worked so hard to help their anxiety it would be devastating for all our hard work to be undone
* No interstate adoption they hate being crated it causes huge stress
These girls will be 2 years old soon so still young and act like kittens in many ways. They love to zoom around the house at high speeds playing chase with each other and love to do acrobatics when playing with the fish on a stick toy! These girls especially Shellie are very active and love having lots of space to play and do zoomies.
They love their toys, scratches posts and big windows to watch the world go by. They do have “cheeky kitten behaviours” such as scratching furniture and climbing on kitchen benches/stealing food and breaking into packets of cat food/human food. Our leather lounge they have left alone however the fabric one is a favourite of theirs to scratch. They DO use their scratching posts regularly and have one in every room. Stevie especially loves sitting up high on them.
These beautiful girls are full of affection and love for humans. They are total love bug lap cats that crave human attention. They would love an owner/s who are home bodies so lots of quality time can be spent with them. Snuggles are their favourite thing. Stevie also loves to give her favourite humans lots of kisses by licking them which is the cutest.
They love sleeping under the covers and love cosy cuddly beds to snooze on during the day. They love sitting in windows bird and people watching while soaking in the morning sun. They are sun seekers and meow for the blinds to be opened up in the mornings
This breed feels the cold more then other breeds so it’s important to keep them warm in winter.
They are the BEST company and follow their humans everywhere even keep you company while you are having a bath or shower.
Shellie is the most outgoing and cheekiest she is very demanding and isnt afraid of telling you what she wants and when she wants it. She is a very chatty cat with lots to say. Whilst stevie is a little quieter she is a total sweetheart who tends to attach herself to one person.
Shellie is very confident and greets all visitors with open paws even the house call vet gets loads of smooches.
These girls are highly food motivated and don’t like their diet being restricted however stevie especially is a little overweight so its SO important for their new family to ensure they are kept healthy and at a healthy weight. They are fed a mix of raw and high quality kibble but ideally would be on full raw. They need high quality food their bellies would not cope with low quality food.
These girls can be very anxious when moving/travelling and feed off each other’s anxiety so it’s important their new home is happy to follow advice from us to make the transition as smooth as possible.
These girls have come SO far with their foster mum and we are so proud of them. In the right environment they are going to be such perfect family members
They have so much personality and are so fun to have around. This breed is truely incredible but they aren’t for everyone. They crave human attention and these girls in particular wont do well with a family that is away from home alot they are not as independent as other cat breeds they are very needy and more “dog like” which is one of the reasons they are so so special.
If you think you are the right home for these stunners please email us at fireflyanimalrescue@gmail.com for an application form. Please note our volunteers work fulltime and have young families so aren’t always able to respond fast. We usually get a high volume of interest in rex breeds so please be patient. Its recommended to read up and research this breed before applying to ensure its a good fit for your lifestyle
