About Polly
Polly is a lovely little lady. She loves pats and scratches and is happy to follow you around and keep an eye on what you are up to. Even at 14 years of age she has passed her health check from the vet with flying colors and has just had a teeth clean to get her up to speed. Polly was very over weight when she came to us and has now lost about 3.5 kilos so she is much happier and able to move more freely thereby lowering the risk of arthritis in her joints. She has gotten along with all the other dogs in foster care and will remove herself if she doesn’t particularly like one of them. She is not fond of jumpy puppies due to her age and self preservation instincts.
Polly has gotten on ok with the resident cats but will follow them if they run anywhere, so supervision is required when outside. She travels in the car well. Her recall isn’t the best but she will eventually come if your voice is stern enough and she can see you.
She is house trained but has to be let out regularly due to having an older ladies bladder and can’t hang on all day. She loves to hunt for mice and will spend hours trying to find them.
She will need a secure yard since she has lost some weight and can now squeeze through any smaller gaps.
Polly has now had her first bath with us at the local dog wash and was fantastic, standing very still while she was washed and then even let her foster mum trim up round her face and bum to make her nice and tidy.
Polly is best suited to a home where she will have company all day and would make a great companion to an older person who is happy to spend time relaxing with her and maybe a walk a day would be enough for her.
