About Carol
If you ever watched Friends, you'll know why we called her Carol! Carol wants to be your only cat. Although she lived in group-housing, she doesn't always play well with others and she is now in her own condominium where she can be Queen of her own domain. Call us to meet Carol, then take her home - you need her in your life.
Carol is a big cat and needs a large litter tray (available from Bunnings). At times she kicks up litter or misses her aim, outside the tray. She tends to perch on the side of the box like a bird, and sometimes faces the wrong way. She doesn’t go to the toilet on the floor intentionally. We keep pee-pads under the tray to catch anything that goes outside it. She is presently perching on a container in the middle of the box and that’s going well although not perfect. There's a photo of her set up included, as well as a photo comparing the size of a normal tray to her big one. Carol will not use a covered litter tray. It's not a major issue, but the set up needs more space than the average cat's.
PLEASE READ MEDICAL NOTES.
Medical notes
Carol was diagnosed with avascular necrosis and had femoral head ostectomies, left leg in March and right leg in May 2022. You can read more about this condition and surgery here https://wagwalking.com/cat/condition/legg-calv-perthes-disease
Carol shows no pain or abnormalities. When she's older, she may develop osteoarthritis in the lower joints of her hind limbs as they compensate for carrying her bodyweight in an unusual manner.
Keeping Carol active and at the lower end of a healthy weight range is best from a management perspective. Many cats develop osteoarthritis as they age, and Carol's life expectancy is normal.
We are happy to provide her veterinary history for you to discuss with your own vet for independent opinion, prior to adoption.
