About Beetroot
Beetroot, aka Mister B is a lovely male English Staffy (we think crossed with Sharpei) and is approximately 5-6 years old. Beetroot was found wandering in Rural NSW, so we have no idea of his history.
Beetroot is a small/medium sized dog that is a very desirable size and requires a confident owner to teach him boundaries.
Beetroot is a very loving and cuddly soul, he wants love all the time! He enjoys pats, hugs, giving kisses, being near you 24/7 and watching you eat.
He is an active dog and loves to play! Balls are his favourite. He knows some tricks such as: sit, paw, up, lie down, stay, jump up etc. He is a very very trainable boy amd will do anything for a treat.
Beetroot does jump and gives little nips when playing or excited. We’ve been training him to stop, but this training will need to be continued. He tries to bark when people and dogs walk past the house, but sadly his voice box has been removed by his previous owners.
Beetroot suffers greatly from separation anxiety: he is inside with his foster carers when they are home, however they have found him to be more comfortable outside when they go.
He is an escape artist when home alone, so being left with a food toy and left on a lead next to a bed, seems to have woked a charm.
Beetroot is getting so much better with trust! Every time we come home he is curled up sleeping on our outside couch.
He is terrified of crates, he won’t even walk into one even if there are treats.
He is toilet trained, but when you come home and he gets super excited, sometimes he does a little wee!
His ideal family would be anyone active, another dog is fine if they are introduced well! We have a pug and he was great with her. He has not been tested with children or cats.
I don’t think he would have a problem with kids, but he’s a bit of a jumper. A family with older children would be more suited. The house will also need to be fully fenced off.
When out for a walk he whines at other dogs, but we never introduce them, he will require continued socialisation. He came to dog obedience and was fantastic with the other dogs.
Dislikes: Crates, confined spaces, vacuums, blow dryer, being alone all the time.
Likes: Sweaters, balls, comfy bed, treats, toys, walks, being tucked in, pats and lots of love.
He is a beautiful boy who deserves a family who loves and treasures him.
