About Hunny
💚💙 Available for Adoption "Hunny" 💚💙
Hunny (Eadie) is a delightful and affectionate 2 year old female husky x border collie. She is fully crate and toilet trained and travels well in the car. Eadie has recently been desexed and is recovering nicely.
Hunny came into foster care from a rural NSW pound and was known as an escape artist. She has only tried to escape once with us which was on the first day we had left her by herself. She now feels safe and secure and greets us with a wagging tail and big hugs at the gate.
Hunny has been getting on really well with our male border collie and tends to be quite dominant. She originally came from a family with young kids and was reportedly great with them. When we are out walking we notice she loves the sound of kids playing and she always stops to say hi and grab a hug and a pat. She can get quite excited when seeing both humans and dogs and will either stand up for a cuddle or lay down for a belly rub. She is quite submissive with males and would really need a strong but loving male role model.
Hunny has a beautiful temperament and we have not witnessed any sign of aggression at all. We think she is on the younger side of 2 as she still has some puppy traits such as chewing. She will often help us by pruning the branches in the garden and chewing them and can leave a bit of a trail of destruction. She is getting better though but just needs lots of chew toys and some mental stimulation so she doesn’t get bored.
At the same time she is very mature. She loves running around the back yard, playing with the ball and swimming at the beach but also likes to chill in her crate, on the lounge or sneak onto the bed for a nap. She is very responsive to training but has selective hearing when we try to get her off the bed!
Hunny's coat is more husky than border collie and as such she moults everywhere!!! She really needs daily brushing and the house will need daily vacuuming! If this is going to be an issue please do not consider adopting her. It’s inevitable!
What Eadie’s forever home needs:
💚 Love, love and more love
💚 Ability to exercise daily
💚 Lots of opportunities for mental stimulation
💚 A dominant male role model
💚 An active family that will give her loads of love, attention and affection
💚 High and secure fencing 6ft + (non negotiatiable)
💚 Big backyard to run around in
💚 Time for daily brushing
💚 A good vacuum
We absolutely adore Hunny. She is one in a million and we honestly wish we were able to adopt her ourselves. She deserves nothing but the best. She so intelligent and will be a great dog to train. We really think she could even make a great therapy dog once the puppy reactivity eases. She just oozes love and affection to everyone she meets.
