About Drake 🤩
Foster Carer/New Home URGENTLY Needed
This sweet placid boy Drake, a German Shepherd X Bull Arab just turned 9, urgently needs a new home and this is what his owner has to say-
Drake is a happy, healthy, sociable dog with beautiful manners. He is in terrific shape due to years of daily exercise and not overfeeding or feeding him human food. He is a self exercising dog - will retrieve a ball or chase seagulls or swallows for fun ( never catches them).
He loves crunching on raw chicken wings/necks/legs as well as a raw egg over kibble.
He has been well socialised with children, people and other dogs from an early age. Has never lived with cats.
His tail is always up and wagging when he is at the beach or the park, where he might run off to chase birds for a bit of fun, but his recall is excellent (comes to a whistle or a “this way “) and he will always keep his eye on your whereabouts and return to your side for a pat or in hope of a treat .
He’s smart, loyal and always comes out and greets you when you come home.
He has been taught not to jump up on people, to come, to sit and wait on command, shake hands and will do that routinely before getting the signal he is allowed to start eating his dinner. He’s a real gentleman ! But if you want to feel safe, he has that guard dog presence too, will alert you if someone is hovering at the gate. But once they are invited in, he is very friendly and welcoming - especially if they are delivering food!
Drake gets on with dogs of all sizes and ages, children and adults, male or female; he just loves company. He is really good on the lead but enjoys roaming freely occasionally as well so he can get up to maximum speed and roll on his back and get a good scratch. Â Speaking of scratches, he loves loves loves a tummy rub and will flop down and roll over to give you access to his tummy if he thinks he has a chance! He has a few soft bumps and lumps, all checked out by the Local vet and given the all clear. One tummy lump is a small hernia he has had since birth that has not changed over the years.
Drake has been successfully boarded for over a week without any issues and is a welcome  addition to the dog walker’s pack, since he gets along with everyone else, plays nicely and is so relaxed. He can jump up into the back of the van or Ute by himself, very agile and active.
While he does love a morning outing, he’s pretty content outside on an outdoor lounge sleeping most of the day. Would still prefer to come inside at night, especially if there’s a thunderstorm - he gets nervous if there is lightning and needs a dark quiet place away from windows. Will howl at sirens, in a beautiful wolf-brother song voice.
He is suffering due to my change in domestic situation earlier this year - marriage separation and moved house. Previously someone was always coming or going, my ex and our boys. Â But now I am gone for 24 hour shifts and he is alone and distraught, despite having food, water and shelter.
He’s just not coping with all this upheaval and it’s not changing anytime soon. He could be so much happier with someone who is around regularly each day or at least home every evening. Or can take him with them!
Drake is a really good, handsome, healthy dog, who always gets lots of compliments from other people who delight in seeing him running around so happily and his wagging tail like an antenna and his sweet nature when he greets people and other dogs.
Desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, currently treated for ticks and fleas and wormed (Heartworm too) and have  Nexguard Spectrum chews for another 3 months.
Can Include : stainless dog bowl, winter jacket, leash and collar and large trampoline bed
