About Sassypants/leelu
I'm Sassy Pants (aka Sass, Sassaparilla, Sassquatch or Sassafras) and despite my name I'm a very sweet girl... Though I do like wearing the pants in a relationship!
I've come a long way in the month I've been with my foster parents. I was very scared and confused at first, but I've discovered something amazing... did you know people will give you head scritches?? I love having my chin and head scritched! And if I sit on my foster dad's lap, he can use both hands to pet me! Sometimes he tries to use his hands to "do work" or "read a book", but I'm slowly training him out of this. I often hear my foster parents talking about how soft and sleek my fur is, so I know they enjoy giving me scritches too. Even though I look pure black, I've got a snazzy white chest and a fluffy, stripey tail, which I'm very proud of.
I also *love* to play. As soon as you stay wiggling a thing on a string, I'm there, purring my little head off. I'll happily run up and down my cat tree chasing toys, or carry my favourite mouse to stash in my super-secret hiding place. Even if I'm feeling too shy for a scritch, I'll always play with you.
I still get a bit scared by fast movements, and I don't like being cornered - I'll let you know if I'm feeling overwhelmed with a hiss but no swipes. I'll immediately follow up with a finger sniff though, so I think hissing is mostly just a habit now, and something that more love (and head scritches) will fix over time. I'm going to be the biggest cuddle bug once I'm comfortable with you, so be prepared!
I'm very interested in my foster sister, so I think I'd be fine in a house with other pets (with the proper introductions, of course).
So have you got two free hands and some spare scritches for me?
Adoption details
Just browse some of the photos of our beautiful cats available for adoption or come to our shelter in Shenton Park to meet our many beautiful kitties.
Please be aware that the cats featured on this page represent only a very small portion of the total number of beautiful felines we have available for adoption. We do not include any of our kittens on this page, as the turnover for youngsters is simply too high to keep up-dating, but we always have many beautiful kittens looking for homes!
Also many of our cats and kittens are currently staying in temporary foster homes out in the community but are still looking for a loving home, so please call Cat Haven in advance if you want to make arrangements for a meeting with a foster cat.
