About Otie
Introducing the adorable Miss Otie š
Otie is a 4 month old female Spoodle puppy (Cocker Spaniel x Poodle) who will be available for adoption to the perfect fur-ever home on Friday 3rd June.
She is bouncy, snuggly, cuddly, sassy, extremely active, incredibly smart and absolutely LOVES water. Her first two months of life were spent running amuck, so she is still learning appropriate behaviors both with humans and canine friends. She requires an experienced dog owner, ideally someone who has had Cocker Spaniels in the past as even in her early stages we are seeing signs of resource āguardingā in Otie, which is very much a Cocker Spaniel trait. This will need to be managed with consistent, firm, loving and reward based positive behavioral reinforcement. We will not be considering non-experienced dog owners ā note ā it doesnāt have to have been a Cocker but you must have dog experience).
Otie is one of the smartest puppies I have come across, and she would make an absolutely brilliant therapy dog (if you invested the time and formally trained her) & would thoroughly enjoy agility training for fun. Otie requires a home that understands her needs and is willing to put in the work to guide her in becoming the very best version of herself. Boundaries, consistent training and mental stimulation are key to the development of this little lady. She will require proper professional training and will need at least 60 minutes a day of exercise. She absolutely cannot be left at home all day ā she will get anxious and upset so needs companionship and must be an inside dog. Otie will need to be an integral part of your family. She is a fiend for water ā she likes to jump into the shower with us and splash around ā it is extremely cute and very entertaining, so hew new family will need to be able to take her to the beach regularly and allow her these simple pleasures.
She is currently in foster care on the Central Coast in NSW with 6 other doggos of varying sizes, and she does love the canine company but will push boundaries and see how dominant she can be with the other dogs. Whilst Otie is not in care with children, on walks and outings she has interacted beautifully with kids, but given we have seen signs of resource guarding any children in the home would need to be 12years plus so that they can also be taught how to manage her behavior.
Please note, we are a volunteer run organization so simply do not have the resource or time to contact every applicant.
We are expecting a tonne of applicants for this little beauty and will have a 3 step application process:
1) Email me your info covering all of the below listed points
2) If shortlisted, we will then have a phone interview
3) From there, we will organize meet and greets, and for those with other dogs we ask you bring them along to allow Otie and your fur kid to meet each other to see if the click.
