About Maggie
Maggie can be a bit nervous when you first meet her. She is a lovely gentle dog who needs time to trust. She seeks reassurance from people she trusts. She is fearful of new objects and loud noises.
She is suitable with kids 12+yo. Our trainer says: "She will need a quiet home at least initially until she feels comfortable and a safe space to get away from things that worry her."
She prefers women to men. She loves gentle pats and predictable hand movements. Maggie is pretty excited to go for a walk and pulls on lead. She lunges playfully at other dogs going past. If you are up to it, she loves a jog and that is a great way to control the pulling and keep her attention on you.
She was surrendered to the pound as former owners had no time for her. She was purchased as a pup. Wakers say "lovely dog! Very pretty too!" She has a smooth coat and weighs 21.6kg.
Good with Kids: Shown to be good with kids in the controlled environment of the Shelter.
Suit Part Time Worker: Copes alone for short periods, with training possibly longer but presently does need someone home part of the time
Garden: Needs a home that has more space as well as a garden for exercise and regular walks outside.
NEEDS RESCUE EXPERIENCE: These dogs need someone with previous rescue experience in rehabilitating traumatised dogs with an in depth understanding of and experience in building relationships with these kinds of dogs.
Adoption details
DoggieRescue is a charitable organisation and as such we rely very much on volunteers to manage our adoptions. We answer initial adoption enquiries by email or phone and then arrange an appointment for you to meet some of our rescue dogs.
At DoggieRescue we believe our dogs deserve to find that special someone who will love them and look after them forever. We know that there are homes out there that are willing to accommodate one more little member of the family and dedicate time to their well being.
