About Noah - Dingo
Hi my name is Noah and I'm an alpine dingo. I'm a shy, gentle and sweet-tempered boy looking for a quiet home with patience and lots of TLC to give.
In my previous life (before I was rescued) I didn't have much positive human contact, and it takes me a while to work out that you aren’t scary and that you won’t hurt me. Once we do make friends I love gentle cuddles and I'll lick your hand to tell you I'd like another ear rub. I'm not pushy and I'm very respectful of your space, I will hang back until you you call me over for a cuddle or a pat.
I'm very gentle and even when I'm scared I won't bite, I just want to hide in my kennel or under the bed until I feel safe.
I actually sleep with the volunteers at the rescue at the end of their beds. I sleep through the night and I’m fully house trained too, and I never chew any of the volunteers' possessions. In fact this is my favourite time because being in a homely environment gives me the confidence to come out of my shell and get lots of pats and cuddles.
I love walks, and once I get to know you, we can go on quiet bushwalks together or walks in the park away from scary cars and busy roads. I'd rather avoid the hustle and bustle of cafes or markets though. Let's just hang out together away from crowds one-on-one.
I'm very social with other dogs and I've never met another dog I don't like. I’m very gentle, would never fight back, and would let other dogs take the lead, I don’t mind following. I need a home with another dog or dingo who can help me build my confidence.
I could have a home with older kids (5+) but they will need to be patient and understand that I will be timid at first and shy of sudden movements and loud noises and might take a few weeks before I'm ready for a pat or a cuddle. I need to be able to build trust and feel safe with my new family. Once I do I will be the sweetest boy there is - in fact I’ve been told that the volunteers all have a soft spot for me. With my quiet and unassuming nature after spending four years at the rescue I’m just waiting for someone to help me find my feet, and learn that the world isn’t a scary place. The human of my dreams must be somewhere out there for me.
Like all dingoes, I'm a good climber and digger! This means I need secure fencing and will require one of the following: 2.2m colorbond fencing OR a dog enclosure OR a secure 1.8-meter fence with top angling or flat-top extensions (http://www.dog-blog-world.com/dog-fence/).
