About Lucy
Lucy is a sweet, loving and cuddly bear-like doggo with a lot of hugs to give. She's a rotti however on the smaller side, kind of like a thick lab. She’s good with other dogs and has great recall. Lucy loves rules and is very obedient and willing to learn and listen, in fact she loves to have a job but is also, very keen to just chill and be great company. However Lucy isn't a cafe dog, she doesn’t like sitting at cafes or pubs, or busy areas, as she feels like she needs to guard the place and her people. Lucy prefers to relax at home or in a park with lots of open space and somewhere not too busy. Her natural element is at home, in the yard, with her people, sunbathing and enjoying nature and peace – she’s not going to be a big city type of cafe dog.
She would suit a home with space to roam and play and snooze in the sun and relax in the shade, she has grown up with children and kids all her life, however she can get a little nervous if cornered or bullied by kids who don’t understand boundaries. She is great with older kids: 4-5+, and unbothered by little-er kids as long as they don’t pull on her tail, hit her with objects, etc. Not many dogs would like that to be fair. But it’s worth noting. She doesn’t know her size and can become stressed when little babies want to play with her and she has no room to remove herself. Lucy is happy to be at home when you're at work, snoozing the day away till you come home.
Lucy being a classic rotti; can be vocal at times but only to alert you someone is at the door if theres a knock or intruder or someone unknown coming to the house (as many dogs do) but once she knows it's friends / family/ the delivery guy, she settles easily and is full of love. Its her alert that's all. When Lucy is relaxed and playing, she is a big talker and classic rotti style her talking is like growls and groans but this is all her love language and way of play.
Sometimes other dogs too can be intimated by her at dog parks as she barks when she plays, but generally she gets on well with most dogs in a spacious park and space off-leash and fenced. Like many dogs, Lucy prefers not to meet other dogs on lead, its too intimidating for her and he prefers to have some space away from other dogs on walks and we suggest crossing the road to be sure she doesn’t feel scared and react. She's much more interested in walking with you, enjoying the scenery and not being forced to socialise haha.
Lucy does love the company of her dog friends and would love to live with another dog but it is also not necessary as she is a very people and family orientated dog. She would be suited to living with another calm and relaxed friendly dog, her age or older. She’s good with cats that are used to dogs and are dog friendly (no scardies) and Lucy currently is in foster care with 2 cats and sleeps in bed with them and everything. Each cat is different and may take time to warm up to Lucy, but as long as they aren’t the type to run away and can settle, eventually it'll be a harmonious friendship.
With people, Lucy is a leaner, and will greet you and your loved ones with a strong lean / butt scratch and snuggle at the door. Lucy loves her walks and will tell you when she’s ready to go. She doesn’t need long ones, just a 20-30 min 1 time a day will be great for her.

Medical notes
Lucy is a healthy & happy dog, she has been desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. Lucy has some soreness in her elbow when over-worked / cold / this is common in large dog breeds like her and especially as she ages. This is something that will need to be managed and looked after with simple Vet care and joint supplements. The elbow joint soreness can be easily managed with a good supportive & comfy bed, vet treatments for joint health like anti-inflammatory medication or injections and a good quality diet. Not overly exerting her and keeping her warm during cold weather also, Lucy is an indoor dog. This is an important medical treatment her adopters will need to be comfortable and happy with investing in for the remainder of her long and happy and loving life.
