About Marlee
Marlee is the sweetest pup who loves a good snuggle but MOST of all loves to exercise 😁 Whilst in foster care Marlee's foster mum has found she is best behaved and her anxiety is managed best when she has had ample amount of exercise, morning AND afternoon!
Marlee must be adopted to an active family/person with loads of space to run and another active dog to play with 😊 She also would do best being allowed inside with her humans when they are, as she just wants to be near her family 🥰
As Marlee is super energetic (we really aren't exaggerating) and smart 🤓 she can push boundaries a little when she is under stimualted. Someone who has experience with working breeds would be a huge advantage with Marlee 💕 She WILL need structure and consistent boundaries put in place to thrive 😊
She is super cute, we know, and being a smaller dog you just want to smoosh her with cuddles right!? Unfortunately this "babying" will worsen Marlee's behaviour, she MUST have boundaries, she isn't and CANNOT be a lap dog. A big thing her foster carer is doing, is making her sit and wait for you to approach her for cuddles and pats 💚
Marlee is sure to always keep you young and giggling. She absolutely LOVES water. It doesn't matter what time of day or night it is, if given the opportunity to go for a dunk, that's were Marlee will be 🤣
She is crate trained and will need to continue this, doggy door trained, knows sit, down, shake, wait and stay 😍 Marlee would thrive doing agility or some form of dog sport!
Marlee's foster mum is currently working on her impulse control, especially when front doors are opened. She is getting the hang of it but will need her new family to KEEP being consistent with the training.
She is super excited and wants to go for a walk with you when ever you leave. Marlee is learning great manners when going for walks. She will even sit and wait calmly, as instructed, before crossing the road. And will walk nicely next to a pram too 😊
Marlee loves her food. So it makes her super easy to train. She is allergic to chicken and sensitive to dry food or any processed grainy treats 🤢
Marlee is doing very well on and will need to continue; on prime 100 rolls (single protein) , lyka and ziwipeak (just ensure they are chicken free ones). Treats are best to be natural dehydrated non chicken meats (ziwipeak, liver treats and prime roll are good options).
Marlee also is taking and will need to continue on Zylkine in the morning to help with anxiety, which is displayed through barking at noises and also the reason for her return to rescue, she was redirecting her anxiety towards the submissive dog by attacking the ears, legs etc.. with nipping and biting. With exercise and training Marlee's anxiety is improving 💖
She is good with other dogs, and must be homed with another dog who will correct her appropriately and teach her how to interact respectfully 😊 She can be vocal when asking other dogs to play with her, but she means no harm at all. She is super friendly.
Marlee adores small humans, she is very good with them 🥰 She does like to chase the cat if one runs scared, however she did live with a "dog-savvy" cat successfully 😄 (he told her off :P )
We know Marlee to be a super friendly, super active (think kelpie + 🤣) and super intelligent doggo who likes to please her humans and who gets FOMO (fear of missing out) 🤣 She is so much fun to play with and a delight to train! 💙 She is one of a kind!
