About Cass- Dingo
Hi my name is Cass (Cassandra), I came to the rescue as an orphan wild born pup with my sister Athena when we were 8 weeks old.
I just love ear scratches and pats, I'm cheeky and always wanting to play with the other puppies and the live-in-volunteers at the sanctuary. I wag my tail when I see my favourite humans and love to climb up onto laps for a cuddle. I love cozy beds and blankets. Could I come home and cuddle with you?
ABOUT CASS:
Cass has been with us at the shelter for over a month now and the more time we spend with her the more confident she becomes with us. She bonds strongly to people and is very loyal and intelligent. She is still extremely shy with strangers though and will hide when she hears a loud or unfamiliar sound or sees a new person. It is likely to take her a couple of weeks at least to warm up to new people in her fur-ever home, but with time and patience, you will see what a sweet, cheeky, affectionate pup she can be.
Since Cass can't be returned to the wild, she is on the hunt for a family who can patiently continue socialising and training with her, and introduce her to life with a human family. She would thrive in a family that have experience with dingoes, street dogs or timid rescue dogs and are committed to positive reinforcement, training and socialising.
Cass loves to play with the other pups and adult dingoes. She will be 18-20kg when fully grown and her new home MUST HAVE a male doggy or dingo friend of a similar size or bigger to play with and help build her confidence (no dogs under 10kg).
Cass would be fine in a home with kids 10+ only who are respectful and good with animals.
Cass has very good manners and is picking up toilet training very quickly. At the moment she is learning with puppy pads.
She is also learning to walk on a lead and can’t wait for her family to carry on her training with her. Dingoes respond well to postive reinforcement training and Arty is very intelligent, food motivated and eager to learn. Being a dingo however, she is not suitable to be let off leash outside the yard and she is unlikely to ever learn reliable recall (come when called) off the leash. Cass will never be the kind of dog who is comfortable in busy playgrounds, cafes or markets etc. but with training and patience, she should continue to build her confidence and enjoy walks in quiet settings like the beach or bush trails and quiet parks.
Like all dingoes, Cass is a good climber and digger! This means she will need secure fencing and will require one of the following:
- 2.2m color bond fencing
- OR a dog enclosure OR a secure 1.8-meter fence with top angling or flat-top extensions (http://www.dog-blog-world.com/dog-fence/).
For more information on fencing check out our website www.sydneydingorescue.com.au
Cass needs a home with a backyard and cannot live in an apartment.
Cass cannot live with birds, cats, livestock. pocket pets or other small animals due to prey drive.
