About Poppy
Hello, my name is Poppy! I'm a 4-year-old ridgeback cross (maybe staffy or Sharpei) special needs dog but mind you that does not limit me in any way!
I have a scar on my head from a mast cell cancer tumour that was removed a while ago. My foster mum calls me Hoppy Poppy.
I am every bit like a cheeky puppy during play time and a lovable, mature doggo when my Hoomans are working. Balancing this role makes me snooze on the lounge during the day where I rejuvenate myself getting ready for walkies and zoomies after my hoomans get off work.
I love belly rubs and pats and that is more important than food for me. I express my love with small winny sounds and lots of lickies when I see my hoomans. I love going to the doggie park but I get tired with the climb up or down and relax after short runs. I like to dig a bit and make myself a comfy hole to relax in when the sun is out .
My favourite food is roast chicken but I am not fussy over food. I do like my hoomans to coax me a bit to eat but only occasionally. I am very treat motivated and have learnt to stay, go toilet, down commands (being a tripod it is a bit difficult but I am enthusiastic).
I am great with kids and love to run up and down the stairs with my hooman brother. I do not like the bounce of balls or squeaky toys but I do love ropes or sock bunnies. I love car rides and sitting patiently in the back seat. I do not like being left alone as I miss my hoomans and start winning or give howls but settle eventually.
I do not like cats, possums, rodents or birds in my backyard. At my current foster house I have not met any other doggos but I am not lead reactive or not averse to strangers at the door. I get a bit jumpy with stange and new sounds but with time I settle.
I am a total love bug and can easily settle in a family who understands my requirements and has time for me.
Medical notes
Poppy's a healthy girl and her missing leg doesn't cause any issues other than being tired quicker. She is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped.
