About Beets and Thistle
Brothers Beets and Thistle are very close and love nothing more than snuggling up together, stalking one another and happily sharing everything (except feather toys – Beets will defend these like a lion). Whilst they have very different personalities, each provides the other with something special. Both kittens were recently set to begin a new life together, however due to a change in circumstances they find themselves on the lookout for their perfect forever family once again.
Beets is an explorer who pads daintily around the house, checking out nooks and crannies and stopping by his humans for a gentle pat. The tiniest of the litter, Beets is also the bravest; he was the first to start leading his siblings on adventures and accepting treats from quiet hands. Beets is a very curious boy; he methodically worked his way through our jungle of house plants, none of which survived his ‘investigations’. He is a beautiful little guy, with his big white face and light green eyes, and has a quiet and gentle disposition (unless the feather toy is involved). Beets’ favourite things include warm laps, running off with the prized feather toy to hide/kill it, and swatting at things on the TV.
Thistle is an acrobat who loves rambunctious games that involve launching at, off and back onto the couch at high speed. He has a laser focus when stalking his siblings and catching toys in flight (often with an unnecessary but very impressive mid-air 180 thrown in). Despite his bravado in play, Thistle has inherited a little more of his street-cat mother’s wariness than his siblings. He relies on the presence of a sibling to feel confident in his surroundings and happy approaching and interacting with his people. Thistle is a very handsome young man, with high cheekbones to die for, long legs and a cute-as-a-button black nose. His favourite things are meowing (he is quite the Chatty Cathy), cuddling up with Beets, and running sprints up and down the hallway.
To be 110% fair to Thistle and to any potential adopter, we need to be clear about where he is at. Thistle has taken four months here to develop enough trust to approach us for a pat (we still can’t really approach him – it needs to be on his terms). He is easily startled by sudden movements and loud voices, though is getting much better given he is so familiar with us and his surroundings. Thistle has only had good experiences with people since his litter was found in a backyard veggie patch, but his mum taught him well – he is very wary of the unknown (and, to be honest, a lot of the ‘known’, too). We can’t promise this won’t take quite a bit longer for a new adopter than it would with the average kitten. It could take months for Thistle to settle after a disruption (and he could surprise us all, but better to be realistic than optimistic!). In addition, Thistle still hasn’t been picked up as we expect he wouldn’t take kindly to it - yet. In saying all of this, we know he will be a beautiful companion and affectionate pet given the time and the right home environment.
Together, Beets and Thistle balance each other out. Beets’ gentle and affectionate nature gives Thistle the confidence to be the cuddle-bug he is at heart. Thistle’s ‘go hard or go home’ play mentality encourages the more pensive Beets to let his hair down and climb to even higher heights! The perfect forever home for these boys will be a quieter home without primary-aged children; at this stage, both kittens find children (with their beautiful desire to play and enthusiastically give affection!) a bit overwhelming. Beets and Thistle would co-exist happily with a pet dog that is gentle, well-mannered and will not chase them.
These boys will make the perfect addition to a loving family who will give them the time, space and attention they need to continue to flourish.
Medical notes
Both boys are completely happy and healthy and will come to their new home with all 3 kitten vaccinations completed, microchipped, wormed and desexed.
